Tottenham dealt another injury blow as loanee stretchered off following a serious blow to his shoulder and ribs

Jamie Donley will call himself unlucky on debut after he was taken off due to an injury.

Tottenham Hotspur have yet again been struck with injury. Loanee Jamie Donley, who is out on loan at Oxford United until the end of the season, made his debut last night against Milton Keynes Dons in an FA Cup fixture. However, his debut was cut short when he was taken off after 15 minutes, following a bad fall that landed on his back, neck & and shoulder.

There was a tension inside the StadiumMK after Donley’s incident, especially from the club’s interim manager, Craig Short. The Northern Ireland star received medical treatment on the pitch after feeling the impact. “It looked nasty with Jamie…I’ve not found out what has gone on, but I think he has a bit of concussion,” Short told The Oxford Mail. “He had a shoulder injury as well as a rib injury, so it was tough to see that.”

Jamie Donley, who was previously on loan at Stoke City, was recalled because he was behind experienced players and was not getting enough game time. At Stoke, he featured in 4 games, providing one assist. Prior to the Stoke City loan, he was lauded as a ‘brilliant’ talent after an impressive start to his Tottenham Under-21 campaign. For the U-21 side, he made 50 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing 20 assists. Since making his debut against Manchester City in early December 2023, he has made 4 senior appearances for the London club under Ange Postecoglou.

In his previous loan spell at League One club Leyton Orient, he scored eight goals and provided 10 assists across 42 league matches. Donley played in three games for Northern Ireland in its 2026 World Cup qualifying group last year and scored his first goal in a 1-0 victory over Luxembourg at Windsor Park. However, after his recent injury, he might not be able to feature for his national side in the final World Cup qualifying match, when they travel to Italy for March’s play-off semi-final.
