“A shame…”- Ramon Vega slams Tottenham owners as media spotlight turns towards lack of ambition at N17

The Lewis family is holding Tottenham back from competing at the top-end of the Premier League table.

Tottenham’s perceived lack of ambition following last season’s Europa League triumph speaks volumes about the club’s current direction under the Lewis family’s ownership. The Lilywhites have shown little sign of progression since Daniel Levy’s departure, raising serious concerns over the long-term vision for success at N17. Matters on the pitch have only compounded those doubts, with Thomas Frank struggling to steady the ship amid inconsistent results.

It was not long ago that the Lewis family opted to make sweeping changes at the boardroom level. Levy was relieved of his duties, with assurances that a new hierarchy would be more focused on delivering sustained sporting success. There were also claims that Thomas Frank would be fully backed in the transfer market, with significant investment promised to strengthen the squad and support the Danish tactician.

However, those promises now appear hollow. The majority shareholders of ENIC have failed to adequately back Frank in the market and have also struggled to build any meaningful connection with the fanbase. Last season’s Europa League victory was meant to serve as a foundation for further progress, yet it now risks being remembered as the beginning of a prolonged decline under the Lewis family’s stewardship.

Time has come for the Lewis family to sell Tottenham

Reports had suggested that the Lewis family were considering selling their majority stake in Tottenham when the decision was taken to remove Daniel Levy earlier in the season. Those claims were swiftly denied, with assurances that the owners were committed to restoring the club’s status and closing the gap on their rivals. The statements briefly reignited hope among supporters that the North Londoners were finally prepared to operate like the powerhouse they are expected to be.

Former Spurs player Ramon Vega, however, has questioned why the Lewis family continue to run the club at this point. Taking to X, Vega said,

“It’s a shame the Lewis family doesn’t want to sell the Club!”

As Vega suggests, there is growing frustration over the owners’ reluctance to sell. Under their guidance, the Lilywhites have continued to regress, offering little sign of promise on the pitch. Tottenham have already exited both the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup and currently sit 14th in the Premier League. More than Thomas Frank, it is the majority shareholders of ENIC who must shoulder the blame for the position the club finds itself in.

Patience among supporters is rapidly wearing thin, and it increasingly appears that Frank will bear the brunt of the Lewis family’s shortcomings. A lack of investment and clear backing for the Danish manager has underlined that results on the pitch are not the primary focus. Whether a change at the helm is forthcoming remains to be seen.
