Aston Villa dominated Tottenham as the Lilywhites exit the FA Cup.
Tottenham’s FA Cup hopes ended as Aston Villa dominated at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham crashed out of the FA Cup after a dismal 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday evening. Emiliano Buendía gave the visitors an early lead before Morgan Rogers doubled their advantage on the stroke of halftime. Wilson Odobert’s second-half strike briefly offered hope, but Spurs couldn’t find an equalizer as Thomas Frank‘s side delivered another woeful home performance.
The result represents another damaging blow to Frank’s already precarious position. Spurs drop out of the FA Cup at the third-round stage, leaving them with no realistic trophy prospects this season as they languish in 14th place.

We now take a look at how the Spurs stars fared today.
Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings
Guglielmo Vicario (5/10): Failed to command his area for Rogers’ goal. However, couldn’t do much for both goals.
Pedro Porro (4/10): Struggled defensively against Donyell Malen’s movement and offered little attacking threat despite working tirelessly. Porro’s crossing was inaccurate throughout and his defensive positioning allowed Villa to exploit space repeatedly down Tottenham’s right flank.
Kevin Danso (4/10): The Austrian defender had a difficult outing. Danso looked uncomfortable in Tottenham’s system and struggled with Villa’s pace on the counter-attack. His positioning was questionable for both goals as Villa carved through Spurs’ defense with ease.
Micky van de Ven (5/10): Tottenham’s most reliable defender couldn’t prevent Villa’s dominance. Van de Ven made several interceptions but was isolated by poor organization around him as Villa controlled proceedings comfortably throughout the first half.
Ben Davies (4/10): Started at left-back but offered minimal attacking threat. Davies was solid enough defensively early on but faded badly as Villa increased pressure, struggling to contain the movement of Morgan Rogers and Emi Buendía.
Archie Gray (5/10): The teenager worked hard in midfield but was overrun by Villa’s superior quality. Gray showed energy but his decision-making under pressure was poor, giving away possession in dangerous areas as Villa dominated the middle of the park.
João Palhinha (5/10): Brought physicality to midfield but couldn’t control the tempo against Villa’s energetic press. Palhinha won several duels but lacked support from teammates as Spurs were overwhelmed in the first half. His influence waned after the break.
Wilson Odobert (6/10): Tottenham’s best attacker on the night. Odobert scored a well-taken goal in the 54th minute, firing low into the bottom corner after excellent work from Randal Kolo Muani. Showed pace and directness but was isolated for long periods as Villa defended their lead comfortably.
Xavi Simons (5/10): Created several half-chances with intelligent movement but his final ball lacked precision throughout. Simons faded badly in the second half as Villa’s press intensified, unable to provide the creativity Tottenham desperately needed to mount a comeback. However, he did find the back of the net, only for it to be ruled offside.
Mathys Tel (4/10): Had a disastrous evening after his bright outing against Bournemouth. Was substituted in the 78th minute.
Richarlison (5/10): Looked positive and bright, but pulled a hammy in the half-hour mark, and had to be substituted.
Substitutes
Randal Kolo Muani (6/10): Replaced Richarlison at the half-hour mark and provided fresh energy. Although he worked hard, he couldn’t find the back of the net, but his involvement in Spurs’ only goal was massive.
Dominic Solanke (N/A): Finally made his return. Came on in the dying minutes for Odobert.
Djed Spence (N/A): Introduced late as Frank searched for attacking options. Had minimal time to influence proceedings before Villa secured their passage to the fourth round.
Dane Scarlett (N/A)
