The player in question had an impressive debut in early 2025, but has remained a fringe player ever since.
Tottenham Hotspur backup goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky has been subject to ample interest in the ongoing winter transfer window. There have been links to the likes of Premier League side West Ham and Ligue 1 side Auxerre that have resurfaced of late, and it looks like there could be one more English suitor with budding interest in his signature.
Wolves looking at Kinsky for a possible winter loan
According to the latest report from inFotbal.cz (via Sport Witness), Wolverhampton Wanderers are said to have held talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a possible loan move for the 22-year-old Czech international this winter.
The 22-year-old has come through as a target for Wolves as they look to address a bit of their defensive problems in what has been nothing short of a disastrous season for them in the English top tier.
Wolves’ interest in signing Kinsky comes from them having a continued sense of instability between the sticks. If we start looking into it, they started their season with Jose Sa at the back as the first-choice goalkeeper, but his position was soon taken up by Sam Johnstone in September.
And after the latter started 11 consecutive league games, Sa regained his spot last month.
And this lack of continuity at the back has been quite akin to the exact struggles that they have had at the Molineux Stadium this season. At the time of writing, they have the second-worst defensive record in the Premier League, conceding 41 goals, better only than West Ham (who, as mentioned above, are also looking at Kinsky).
Rob Edwards’ side currently sit 20th, a worrying 14 points away from the 17th-placed Nottingham Forest, and it will be nothing short of a dramatic turnaround if they do manage to find a way to save their spot in the English top tier for next season.
Tottenham have a wage condition for Kinsky
If we look at this from the Lilywhites’ perspective, he is the backup to Vicario right now. And Thomas Frank would not like if that depth were lost in the middle of the season, especially given Vicario’s injury concerns over the past year or so. But even if the North Londoners agree on a temporary exit, the report states that any loaning club will have to cover Kinsky’s full salary.
This condition has already proven to be a stumbling block; SC Freiburg were also looking at him, but they decided not to pursue his signature as they didn’t want to meet his wage demands.
Turkish giants Besiktas have been linked with a move for Kinsky.
