Bayern Munich join Tottenham and three other PL clubs in the race to sign €22m attacker

Tottenham recently let go of Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace.

Tottenham have been looking to bring in more depth to their front line in the ongoing winter transfer window. Given that Thomas Frank has lost Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace already, alongside losing Mohammed Kudus to an injury that should likely keep him on the sidelines till March, the Lilywhites are in dire need of bringing in some quality and depth in that firing line.

The need for personnel upfront also arises from the fact that the North Londoners have been struggling to score goals this season. And the Dane head coach is desperate to try and unlock a few sequences that can start bringing goals.

Tottenham need cover on that left flank

Thomas Frank is lacking option on that left flank

While the officials at Hotspur Way spent big money on Kudus, they decided against bringing in a potent left winger to take up the void left by Son Heung-min, and it looks like that decision is now beginning to show its consequences.

At the time of writing, Wilson Odobert is the only natural left-wing option available at Frank’s disposal. But the Frenchman has struggled to show his consistency time and again, with his rawness surfacing in a lot of the sequences he is involved in. That being said, Tottenham also have Randal Kolo Muani, Xavi Simons and Mathys Tel, who can all offer cover out wide. But let’s be honest, none of them are ideal long-term solutions.

Simons is far more comfortable when he is playing more on the inside, while Kolo Muani is on loan and would return to PSG in the summer. And then there is Tel, who is reportedly open to leaving Tottenham as he awaits regular minutes under his belt.

El Mala emerges as a serious target at Hotspur Way

According to the latest from Falk on CF Bayern Insider, the North Londoners are said to have identified €22m-rated Said El Mala as a serious target. But they won’t have much of a clear run for him, given that all of Bayern, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City are interested as well.

The 19-year-old German ace has already been involved in nine Bundesliga goals this season, showing how he can be a potent option for Tottenham out wide.

But he is under contract with Köln till 2030. And this places them in quite a strong position for any interest or bids coming in for him in the ongoing January window or when next summer comes around.

Would you take El Mala at Tottenham this winter, or would you want the club to go for someone like Bowen, who is more accomplished in the Premier League? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
