Tottenham supporters to stage protest against Lewis family over transfers, injuries and lack of clarity

Tottenham have gone backwards in the Premier League under Thomas Frank this season.

There are growing concerns among Tottenham supporters that the club is regressing under the Lewis family’s ownership. The Lilywhites have struggled to produce positive results in the Premier League, winning just two of their last 12 matches in the competition. As a consequence, the North Londoners find themselves in the bottom half of the table, sitting only six points above 17th-placed Nottingham Forest.

It is evident that Spurs require reinforcements in the January transfer window if they are to have any realistic chance of turning their fortunes around in the coming months. The current group of players have been unable to sustain their form, placing Thomas Frank’s position at N17 under increasing pressure. The squad has also found it difficult to adapt to the Danish tactician’s system, with several new arrivals struggling to adjust to the demands of English football.

Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust has submitted a plea to Daniel Levy for more fan representation in the Board.

The Lewis family had promised to show intent in the winter as they looked to build on last season’s Europa League success. It was recently reported that they had sanctioned a €150m “war chest” for the ongoing transfer window, with the Lilywhites aiming to strengthen ahead of the second half of the campaign. However, the continued lack of activity in the market has led many supporters to believe that the claims were nothing more than a hoax.

Many fans welcomed the departure of Daniel Levy when the Englishman was relieved of his duties at N17. It was widely viewed as a potential turning point in the club’s recent history, allowing Spurs to prioritise sporting success instead. However, it is increasingly appearing as though the Lewis family are no better than Levy, if not worse. They have yet to back up their words with action, leaving Thomas Frank’s side to struggle in the Premier League this season.

As a result, Tottenham supporters are planning to stage a protest against the owners ahead of the club’s Premier League clash with West Ham next weekend. In an open letter to the Lilywhites, the Change for Spurs group said (via Ben Jacobs),

“We believe acting now will hopefully mean our voices are heard at such a pivotal time during the January transfer window. Our first team and squad needs serious investment, and after The Lewis Family Trust, Vinai Venkatesham and Fabio Paratici told supporters that they were ready to be ambitious and prioritise trophies after Daniel Levy stood down, all we ask as fans is that these promises are kept.”

Supporters have urged the Tottenham owners to invest in the squad and bring in reinforcements during the ongoing transfer window. They want to see the Lewis family demonstrate genuine intent in the market and help the club reverse its Premier League fortunes. The protest is intended to remind the club’s newly formed hierarchy to remain true to their promises of prioritising sporting success by acting ambitiously in the market and securing top-quality additions for the second half of the campaign.

Time of crisis for Tottenham?

The growing disconnect between the fans and the club is becoming increasingly apparent. Rising ticket prices, lacklustre performances, poor results, and limited investment have left supporters disillusioned with watching Spurs struggle in the Premier League. As a result, fewer fans are attending matches. If nothing is done by the Lewis family in the coming weeks, there is a strong possibility that many supporters will begin to lose interest in their beloved football club.

The time has come for the owners to match words with action and back Thomas Frank in the transfer market. There is still an opportunity to salvage something from this season and build on last year’s Europa League success. Failing to sign new players could see the club dragged into a relegation battle rather than competing for European places in the months ahead.
