Transfer insider reveals how Tottenham will approach aftermath of a potential Thomas Frank sack

Thomas Frank has come under immense pressure at Tottenham of late.

Thomas Frank finds his position at the helm of Hotspur Way under serious threat, given the disastrous season that the North Londoners have been having. And there is a possibility that he could find himself without a club if the Lilywhites are on the wrong side of the result against West Ham at home this weekend.

But while the pressure continues to mount on the Dane head coach, we do think that the club should not take the Manchester United and Chelsea way and stick with the former Brentford man at the helm. And that is what the Football Insider report states as well, stating that there is an acceptance within the club hierarchy that sacking the 52-year-old is“the last thing they want to do”.

But despite that, there are contingency plans being prepared behind the scenes. And according to senior correspondent at Football Insider, Pete O’Rourke, the North Londoners could turn to an interim manager until the end of the season if they decide to part ways with Thomas Frank.

Why go the interim way after Frank sack?

Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner has already emerged as a leading candidate to take over the reins from Frank if there is a change made at N17 in the coming weeks. But that being said, the North Londoners could instead turn to an interim head coach until the end of the 2025/26 season.

The idea is to wait for the Austrian to run down his contract at Selhurst Park Stadium (his contract with the South Londoners expires in the summer).

Oliver Glasner has been linked with Tottenham.

It is difficult to prise Glasner away from his current position with the Eagles at the moment. So if Tottenham decide to pull the trigger on Frank, then bringing in a short-term solution and waiting it out for Glasner makes the most sense. But it is not as easy as well, given that there are multiple clubs looking to sign Glasner, so it won’t be as straightforward.

Author Opinion

Bringing in an interim if Thomas Frank is shown the door does sound like a sensible thing to do. Let’s be honest, with the club out of two domestic competitions and 14th in the Premier League table, there is not much to salvage out of the current season.

If the officials at N17 have that time to decide on the next gaffer, there is a higher likelihood they will get it right than with an immediate-pressure appointment.
