Tottenham have been very busy in the ongoing January transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur have been handed an early warning in their pursuit of bringing Breno Bidon to Hotspur Way, as arch rivals Arsenal have now made contact in a bid to sign the Corinthians midfielder from under Spurs’ noses.
The Lilywhites had been looking at the 20-year-old for some time now. But that long-term planning with him has now been complicated with the Gunners also entering the picture.
Arsenal make contact with Corinthians for Breno Bidon

According to TNT Sports in Brazil (via Sport Witness), Mikel Arteta & Co. have not only made contact with his current employers but also with Dodici Sports (the agency that represents Bidon).
The report states that Arsenal’s conversations with them were focused on Bidon’s situation with the Brazilian side and the conditions that could have him move to Europe in the future. It ensures that no numbers were discussed and no formal offer was made by Arsenal. But this confirms that they are serious about signing Breno.
Bidon is highly rated at Corinthians. Their manager, Dorival Junior, spoke about his importance in his roster in a recent press conference. He said:
“He’s a very important player. And if I’m being honest with you, I wouldn’t like to lose any player”, he said. “We need to find balance so we can have a strong squad throughout the year. That is our biggest challenge.”
While clubs from Europe queue up for Breno Bidon, the Brazilian side has a clear plan in place with him. They are only intending to negotiate for Bidon only at the end of the year (which will already be mid-2026/27 season in England), according to a report by local outlet Itatiaia. Their board is in no mood to weaken their squad in the middle of the ongoing campaign, which also includes the Copa Libertadores.
And they reportedly believe that another year of him in Brazilian football could further raise Bidon’s stocks.
It looks like Tottenham have a waiting game
As aforementioned, Bidon will remain focused on his season ahead in Brazil. And to add to it, Corinthians are relaxed about the whole situation.
But if we look at this from Tottenham’s perspective, the fact that Arsenal are moving fast on him means they cannot sit back and ignore the situation. If the officials at Hotspur Way are looking at Bidon as one of the priority players for the future, then they will have to start thinking about moving in for him early and aggressively.
But at the moment, everything depends on whether any of the potential suitors are willing to test Corinthians’ resolve with an irresistible offer.
