Journalist confirms Tottenham’s links to €75 million-rated pacey winger from Bundesliga

Tottenham are planning to sign a new winger after acquiring the services of Conor Gallagher.

Tottenham Hotspur jumped in with a last-minute hijack on Monday to beat Aston Villa to the signature of Conor Gallagher. On Wednesday, the north London club officially announced Gallagher’s acquisition from Atletico Madrid.

Santos left-back Souza is set to follow Gallagher to Spurs in the coming days, but that would not be enough for Thomas Frank. The Lilywhites have sold Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace at the start of the winter window and are yet to replace him in Thomas Frank’s squad. To make matters worse, they have lost Mohammed Kudus to a quad injury for several months.

Now, Thomas Frank has limited wide options at his disposal, and with just seven wins in 21 Premier League games so far this season, it is absolutely vital for the Hotspur Way chiefs to back the Tottenham gaffer further in the transfer market.

Journalist Dean Jones gives his take on Tottenham’s interest in Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi

Recent reports suggest Tottenham have been alerted to the availability of pacey Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi. The 23-year-old is open to a new challenge away from Signal Iduna Park after joining the German club back in 2022.

Now, TEAMtalk journalist Dean Jones has shared that Karim Adeyemi has been offered to Tottenham, following reports that Borussia Dortmund value the Germany international at around £75m.

“I’ve heard whispers about Karim Adeyemi being offered to them,” Dean Jones said, in a Facebook Live broadcast with Graeme Bailey (h/t GIVEMESPORT).

“I think he’s going to be pricey, and I don’t know whether he’s exactly the right fit for what they want.”

In response, fellow journalist Graeme Bailey acknowledged that Spurs will be targeting a winger as their ‘next major’ signing after Gallagher’s acquisition.

Should Tottenham make a move for Adeyemi?

Tottenham raided the Bundesliga market last summer when they signed Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig in a £51m deal. And they could go back to the Bundesliga for another attacking talent in the form of Adeyemi. The north Londoners’ interest in Adeyemi is hardly surprising, given how depleted Frank’s attacking options have been due to injuries this season.

From a Tottenham perspective, the Dortmund winger fits a clear need. Spurs have lacked directness and cutting edge from wide areas, so adding a winger with explosive pace, unpredictability and goalscoring ability could add potency to their attack and raise the quality of the overall squad. When at his best, the Munich-born star can prove unstoppable.

However, concerns remain over Adeyemi’s consistency and fitness. Due to a combination of inconsistency and injury problems, the Germany international has failed to establish himself as an undisputed starter at Dortmund across almost four years. Plus, the Bundesliga club value their wide attacker in the region of £75m.

So, considering all the factors, it is quite a risky deal for Tottenham to do.
