Tottenham injury concern as key attacker seen limping after West Ham loss

Thomas Frank has another potential injury problem to worry about after Ben Davies was stretchered off in Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat to West Ham.

Tottenham Hotspur simply cannot catch a break from injuries. Over the last couple of weeks, Thomas Frank has lost three key players in Mohammed Kudus, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Richarlison to injuries.

Kudus suffered a quad problem against Sunderland at home and has been ruled out of action until after the March international break. Bentancur sustained a hamstring injury in the defeat at Bournemouth last week that resulted in him going under the knife. The midfielder will be out for at least three months, while Richarlison suffered a similar injury in the FA Cup defeat to Aston Villa last weekend and will not be back for the next seven weeks.

Thomas Frank’s position at the club has perhaps reached the untenable zone after his Spurs side lost 2-1 to West Ham on Saturday. It was another home defeat for the Lilywhites, with Callum Wilson inflicting a stoppage-time pain to Frank.

In the first half of the contest, Tottenham defender Ben Davies suffered a serious knee injury. After a reckless challenge on Jarrod Bowen, Davies was seen grimacing in pain and couldn’t get up. The medical team rushed onto the pitch and gave the Welshman oxygen, wrapped up his leg in a brace and took him off the pitch on a stretcher. And it looks like Frank has another injury concern to worry about now.

Thomas Frank must be devastated with Tottenham's growing injury list.

Xavi Simons spotted limping after full-time vs. West Ham

According to The Sun reporter Tom Barclay on X, key attacker Xavi Simons was spotted ‘limping’ in the mixed media zone after taking a heavy tackle from West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen in the second half.

Xavi Simons started the game in his preferred No.10 role in a 4-2-3-1 system. The Dutchman was tasked with conducting play and creating chances in the final third. However, once again, the game passed by him, and the playmaker was not quite effective. He was bullied by West Ham midfielders and defenders and lost possession many times.

The 22-year-old did come close to scoring the winning goal late on, but largely failed to deliver the cutting edge required in Kudus’ injury absence. It still feels Simons hasn’t quite adapted to the pace and physicality of the Premier League, with the creative midfielder often dispossessed easily.

Losing the Netherlands international to injury would still be another seismic blow to Frank and Tottenham, forcing the recruitment team to search for new attackers aggressively before the transfer window slams shut.
