Do Tottenham already have a Thomas Frank replacement at Hotspur Way?

Thomas Frank is under immense pressure at Tottenham right now.

With that loss against West Ham United at the weekend at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it does look like Thomas Frank is living on borrowed time at Hotspur Way, given that things have been pushed to their breaking point at N17.

If you walk inside the stadium at the lane, the atmosphere tells you the whole story. There were chants calling for the Dane head coach to be dismissed just before full-time. It does look like a wide section of the supporters have clearly reached the end of their patience with the former Brentford manager.

What was meant to be a chance to reset the season against Nuno’s struggling Hammers was suddenly another grim chapter in the ongoing 2025/26 campaign as Tottenham continued to spiral down. At the time of writing, the Lilywhites are placed at 14th on the Premier League table. And there looks to be no upside.

Frank faced the media after the match and attempted to put on a brave face. But multiple reports around suggest that conversations are much more serious behind the scenes.

Tottenham already have a Frank replacement in ranks at Hotspur Way?

John Heitinga joined Tottenham as first-team assistant coach. Is he a line up as Frank replacement at Hotspur Way?

The North Londoners initially planned to stick with the Dane at the helm and allow him to work through the crisis. But apparently the scale of the collapse that we are watching at Tottenham and this ever-increasing toxic mood around the club may end up forcing the board’s hand, with interim plans already made at N17.

While there are many alternatives to Frank if he were to be shown the doors. A recent report from Tom Allnutt suggests that the club could hand the keys to Heitinga, who was recently appointed the assistant coach for the first team at Hotspur Way.

Heitinga has come through the managerial ranks at Dutch giants Ajax. And he has taken charge of the senior side for them twice already. He has also had spells under David Moyes at West Ham and at Liverpool with Arne Slot. So he does know his way around the Premier League. But that could not weigh much when he is being taken into conversations with the likes of Oliver Glasner and Xabi Alonso.

Dortmund… the last straw?

For now, Frank remains in charge as Tottenham prepare to take on Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League tomorrow. And it looks like this will be the Dane’s final chance to survive and keep his job at Hotspur Way.

Do you think Tottenham brought in Heitinga as an early way to get him used to things if Frank were sacked at N17? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
