The star in question recently returned from injury.
Tottenham Hotspur defender Radu Dragusin has been extensively linked with a move from Hotspur Way in the ongoing winter transfer window.
The Romanian has been struggling to accumulate minutes under his belt since he donned the Lilywhites badge. Given that Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven had been holding that position at the heart of defence, the chances were barely coming by his way.
Just when he got an opportunity to put in a series of appearances at N17, Dragusin came down with a long-term injury which had left him on the flanks till only recently.
But his return from injury has seen him step again into the same old role of being a backup CB.
This has seen him wanting to move away from N17. And this is where AS Roma wanted to pounce on this opportunity to secure his signature.
Tottenham auction plan didn’t work for Dragusin

But then other clubs from Serie A followed. This led Tottenham to hold their ground, trying to get a possible auction situation into the tail end of the window. There was a growing feeling that the North Londoners can get more than the initial €25m price tag that they set for the 23-year-old.
But given the lack of traction with his probable exit, Corriere dello Sport reports that Tottenham would now accept a permanent deal worth around €20m. The Lilywhites will still not get into loans or obligations-to-buy transfers with immediate fees preferred. And this is something that initially cooled AS Roma’s push for the transfer. But this reduced valuation can possibly push them back into the centre of things again.

We know that Dragusin is quite desperate to secure a Tottenham exit. But the fact that the North Londoners went from a position of strength into a situation where they have to reduce valuation on him doesn’t come off quite well. This shows how the chiefs at N17 didn’t get their plans quite right with things.
Yes, an immediate sale is preferred. But if that comes with a €5m discount, is it worth the hassle? The clubs know that Dragusin is a high-potential player, and he is likely to be the percentile player wherever he goes. Even that twenty-five (25) figure was a bargain, let alone this updated one.
