Tottenham will be over the moon at these two stats from their Champions League campaign

Tottenham earned a 2-0 win over 10-man Borussia Dortmund.

While the North Londoners are falling into a spiral in the Premier League, when you start looking at things in Europe, Thomas Frank & Co. continue to look like a completely different team.

Going into the game, it was a night when the Lilywhites could barely scrape together a matchday squad, with a wide section of the roster not available. And then they come in and put up what is possibly the best performance of the season.

Romero shows his offensive promise yet again…

Spurs got the better of Borussia Dortmund on a 2-0 scoreline, and by doing so, Tottenham took a huge step towards qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League. Another by-product of this win is that it will take away a bit of pressure from Thomas Frank’s head, given that he is walking the thin line with his job at the helm at Hotspur Way.

It was Cristian Romero who gave the Lilywhites an early lead before Dominic Solanke slotted home on his Champions League debut, which proved enough to get that win over Kovac & Co. It was the Argentine’s fifth (5th) goal of the season in all competitions, making him second on the list of most goals scored by Premier League defenders in all competitions. His partner in crime, Micky van de Ven, leads the chart with six (6).

It was a game where Djed Spence had to play as a left winger because of a lack of players. And he played an impressive game. To put into context how impressive Spurs were, by half-time, the visitors did not even manage a shot.

And then coming back on in the second half, it was a more controlled outing from the North Londoners (something we have barely seen at N17 this season). If we take away that Ryerson free kick, Guglielmo Vicario had barely anything to do.

Tottenham closed the game out with a sense of composure.

Tottenham home form is quite something in CL

The Lilywhites have been called out for their home form by most of the pundits and supporters this season, but their European home form this season has been extraordinary. Thomas Frank & Co. are the only team in the Champions League this season who have not conceded a home goal.

After the game, Frank (who was looking quite relieved) joked about how he would be having“two big glasses of red wine.” He went on to speak about the connection between players and the supporters (something which has barely been there in the past weeks). But the fans clapped, sang, and believed.

And just like that, we go into that Burnley game at the weekend, hoping to continue this form in the English top tier.
