Fulham favourites to bring Tottenham graduate who is now a national hero, back to Premier League

The player in question recently scored an outrageous hattrick for his national team.

Tottenham Hotspur’s London rivals Fulham are said to be looking to bring Hotspur’s academy graduate Troy Parrott back to the English shores following his impressive performances in the Dutch league.

According to a recent report from The Independent, the West Londoners are keen to strengthen their offensive options in the ongoing winter transfer window. And in order to do so, they are said to have identified 23-year-old AZ Alkmaar #9 as a prime target.

But Marco Silva & Co are not alone in the race for his signatures. Real Betis and Wolfsburg are also pushing for the Republic of Ireland international’s signatures. The latter of the two is also said to be discussing a potential €20 million deal for Troy Parrott, but AZ Alkmaar, at the time of writing, are said to be holding out, wanting a higher fee for their prized striker.

Since he went away from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2024, Parrott has sort of reinvented himself. A product of the Lilywhites youth academy, he was also well thought of during his time at N17.

But the Irish international striker has now proven that he can score goals beyond just against the academy sides. And that’s exactly what has made him one of the more exciting strikers on the continent. He has netted 19 goals and has four (4) assists to his name in just 25 appearances in Eredivisie this season.

He has also gained a lot of international plaudits, and is being hailed a national hero. The 23-year-old was among the goals (5 goals, precisely) in two crucial wins over Portugal and Hungary, which pushed his country into the World Cup playoff stage. This was trending a lot at the time, adding to Parrott’s esteem around the globe.

Fulham eyeing Troy Parrott to prepare for the future

Given the current attacking options at Craven Cottage, Fulham’s interest in Parrott shows that they are already building for the future. While Raul Jimenez is currently the only senior striker and Rodrigo Muniz is out long-term with a hamstring injury, the chiefs at SW6 are already looking for possible new players to lead the line.

The likes of Evan Ferguson and Ricardo Pepi have also been among the rumours. But given that Parrott has been playing some appealing football and his previous experience in England, he has emerged as a serious option for Fulham.

That being said, the West Londoners will have to beat multiple sides to get their hands on Parrott.
