Tottenham are the second-most affected side in this stat in the Premier League this season.
Tottenham Hotspur have been the second-most affected Premier League team by injuries this season, according to data from injury expert Ben Dinnery of premierinjuries.com, contributing significantly to Thomas Frank‘s difficulties at the club.
As reported by the BBC, the research assesses both the number of days lost to injury by first-team squads and the total tally of injuries that have ruled players out of at least one league match. When combining both factors, Spurs emerge among the division’s worst-hit sides.
Tottenham have suffered 19 separate injuries this season, the joint-most of any club alongside Arsenal, Chelsea, and Leeds. More significantly, they have lost the second-highest number of days to injury across the Premier League, trailing only Newcastle United.
Frank’s side are currently missing seven first-team players through injury, including Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison, who are both yet to feature this season after sustaining injuries during the summer. The absence of key attacking players has forced Frank to adopt a more pragmatic approach that has drawn criticism from supporters expecting more expansive football.

While the Danish manager has understandably come under pressure following inconsistent results, injuries in attack have been a significant contributing factor to Tottenham’s struggles. The club sits 14th in the Premier League table with just two home league wins all season, but the absence of crucial creative players has limited Frank’s tactical options.
Remarkably, Frank has not faced as severe a fitness crisis as his predecessor Ange Postecoglou endured at this stage last season. After 22 match rounds in 2024-25, Tottenham had already amassed 25 separate injuries and lost 707 days to injury, both comfortably the highest tallies of any club at that time, as their squad adapted to Postecoglou’s demanding high-octane approach.
The data suggests that while Frank’s tactical decisions have been questioned, the injury situation has significantly hampered his ability to implement his preferred style. Seven first-team absentees represent a substantial blow to any manager’s plans, particularly when those players include key creative talents like Kulusevski and Maddison.
Newcastle United remain the division’s most injury-stricken side, having lost more days to injury than any other Premier League club. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Leeds have also matched Tottenham’s 19 separate injuries, highlighting that fitness problems are affecting multiple top-flight clubs this season.
Premier Injuries’ methodology eliminates data for semi-fit players who may be rested for domestic cup games, focusing only on injuries that have definitely ruled players out of Premier League matches. This ensures the statistics reflect genuine unavailability rather than tactical rotation or minor knocks.
Frank faces mounting pressure despite the mitigating circumstances provided by injuries. Tottenham have been eliminated from both domestic cup competitions and face a realistic battle to avoid relegation if results don’t improve dramatically in the coming weeks.
