Tottenham are struggling to maintain consistency this season.
Tottenham secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday night. It was a must-win encounter for Thomas Frank, who had been facing intense scrutiny following a run of poor results in the Premier League. The Lilywhites adopted a positive approach and rose to the occasion, giving themselves a two-goal cushion within the first half.
It was a much-needed win for the North Londoners, as it strengthened their position in the Champions League group-stage table, moving them up to fifth place with 14 points. Thomas Frank’s side also kept a clean sheet against the Bundesliga giants, making them the only team yet to concede a goal at home in the competition this season.

The result once again highlighted the stark contrast between Spurs’ European campaign and their domestic struggles. In the Champions League, the Lilywhites are flying high and showing no signs of vulnerability, maintaining a 100 per cent win record at home. The same cannot be said for their Premier League form, where the North Londoners have managed just two home wins all season.
Two different sides of Tottenham under Thomas Frank?
It is difficult to understand why Tottenham have been unable to deliver consistent performances in the Premier League this term. The Lilywhites have made an impressive start to their Champions League campaign and are now within touching distance of securing automatic qualification for the knockout stages. However, the North Londoners have struggled significantly to produce positive results in domestic competitions.
Spurs had hoped to build on last season’s Europa League success by competing on all four fronts under Thomas Frank this time around. That ambition has not been realised, with early exits from both domestic cup competitions and a slump to 14th place in the Premier League. However, Kevin Danso is hopeful that the club’s Champions League form can be carried over into domestic action in the coming months. Speaking to Hayters TV, Danso said,
“We want to be good in all competitions. We want to compete on all fronts, and Europe is an opportunity to do that. We showed again today that we’re a good side and we just have to keep going and try and do the same in the Premier League.”
Danso insisted that the squad are determined to compete across all competitions and maintain a strong presence on multiple fronts. Spurs offered a glimpse of their true potential against Dortmund in the Champions League earlier this week, underlining that the side has enough quality to perform well on the biggest stages. The Austrian defender now wants his teammates to replicate that level of performance in the Premier League as they aim to return to winning ways domestically.
It is fair to say that there appear to be two different versions of Tottenham under Thomas Frank. One has struggled in domestic competitions, while the other is thriving in Europe and building on last season’s historic achievement. Supporters will be hoping that Frank can bridge the gap between the two and spark a turnaround in Premier League form following the recent European victory over Dortmund.
Will the North Londoners mount a resurgence under Thomas Frank? Or is it already too late for Spurs to salvage their Premier League season? Only time will tell.
