Thomas Frank is facing the prospect of getting sacked by Tottenham in the coming weeks.
Tottenham manager Thomas Frank is running out of time to save himself from the sack at N17. The Danish tactician has struggled to implement his vision and ideas during his spell with the Lilywhites, making it difficult for him to get the best out of his players in the first half of the season. As a result, the North Londoners find themselves stranded in the bottom half of the Premier League table, having won just two of their last 14 league matches.
There is a growing belief that Spurs could decide to part ways with Thomas Frank if he fails to secure automatic qualification for the Champions League knockout stages. To do so, the Lilywhites may need to claim all three points away against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday night. It is viewed as a must-win fixture for the Danish tactician as he looks to turn the club’s fortunes around.

The ongoing injury crisis at N17 has not helped Frank’s cause either. The former Brentford boss has been forced to field a weakened side in recent weeks, with key players such as Richarlison, Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Bergvall, and Rodrigo Bentancur unavailable. However, that still does not fully explain why Spurs have collected only three points from their last five league matches, despite facing the likes of Burnley, West Ham, Brentford, Sunderland, and Bournemouth.
Tottenham could end up going for Michael Carrick as Thomas Frank’s replacement
It comes as little surprise that Tottenham are already active in the managerial market as their Premier League struggles continue. Thomas Frank’s position at N17 has almost become untenable, with the Danish tactician failing to bring the best out of his squad. He now holds the unwanted record of the worst points-per-game ratio of any Spurs manager in the last decade, underlining the scale of the challenge he has faced at the North London club.
Paul Scholes has now added to the discussion by suggesting a potential replacement for Thomas Frank at N17. Speaking on The Good, the Bad, and The Football podcast, Scholes said,
“It could be like a Tottenham manager from this for Carrick. It wouldn’t surprise me.”
Scholes believes that interim Manchester United boss Michael Carrick is effectively auditioning for a future managerial role at one of the Premier League’s top clubs. The former England midfielder added that Carrick could be a strong candidate to succeed Thomas Frank next season, provided the former Middlesbrough manager continues to impress at Old Trafford in the coming months.
Is Michael Carrick well-suited for the Tottenham job?
It is fair to say that Michael Carrick has helped turn Manchester United’s Premier League fortunes around during his short stint at the club this season. The interim head coach has instilled a winning culture, guiding the Red Devils to back-to-back league victories over Manchester City and Arsenal. The players have been given the freedom to express themselves, while his tactical adaptability has been on par with some of the league’s best managers.
As a result, it would not be surprising if Spurs are closely monitoring Carrick’s progress during his time at M16. The interim head coach could be viewed as an ideal replacement for Thomas Frank, especially given his understanding of the club from his early playing days in North London. He would likely adopt an attacking approach and give supporters something to cheer about.
Will Carrick make the move to Spurs? Only time will tell. For now, the interim boss remains fully focused on helping Manchester United secure Champions League qualification for next season.
