Tottenham learn Pedro Porro’s fate after right-back picks up hamstring injury in Burnley draw

Tottenham right-back Pedro Porro will be sidelined for a month after picking up a hamstring injury.

Attention is now back on the Champions League for Tottenham Hotspur, who will be desperate to return to winning ways following their disappointing 2-2 away draw with Burnley in the Premier League last weekend.

While Spurs have struggled in the Premier League, they have been strong in the Champions League and find themselves in a commanding position going into the final league-phase game against Eintracht Frankfurt. Thomas Frank’s side are sitting fifth, and a win over Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany would guarantee them a direct entry into the Champions League Round of 16.

A depleted Tottenham side prevailed against 10-man Borussia Dortmund at home last week. Heading into Wednesday’s away European encounter, Thomas Frank has seen his side become paper-thin.

Micky van de Ven has a ‘minor issue’ which will keep him out of the Frankfurt game. French duo Randal Kolo Muani and Wilson Odobert were involved in a car crash on Tuesday afternoon, but Thomas Frank claimed in his pre-match presser that they are “fine” and will be joining the squad later in Germany.

Pedro Porro ruled out for four weeks with a hamstring injury

Tottenham have been dealt a big injury blow when it was revealed that Pedro Porro has suffered a hamstring injury. Thomas Frank provided an update that the right-back will miss four weeks of action.

“Pedro hasn’t travelled, unfortunately, he’s picked up a hamstring injury, so he’ll be out for four weeks,” Frank said.

Pedro Porro was substituted at half-time in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Burnley at Turf Moor last time out, with Frank stating that he wanted to manage his workload. The right-back has been a regular fixture for Frank’s side, making 34 appearances in all competitions. The Spanish international has started 20 of 23 Premier League games this season, registering two assists.

The 26-year-old was taken off as a precaution against Burnley, but he is now set to miss a month’s action following a hamstring problem. This is another setback for Frank, who is already without several key first-team players. The last few weeks has been horrible for the Dane, losing players such as Mohammed Kudus, Richarlison, Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Bergvall to respective injuries.

Porro is the latest player to enter the treatment table, and that, coupled with Van de Ven’s minor issue, has weakened Tottenham’s defensive options heading into the Frankfurt game. With games against Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Arsenal in the Premier League set to follow after the Frankfurt clash, it will be fascinating to watch how Frank juggles his already depleted resources.
