A Tottenham academy talent has sealed a loan move to Salford City.
Tottenham Hotspur have managed to loan out a couple of their academy kids on transfer deadline day.
George Abbott sealed a move to Mansfield Town until the end of the season. The midfielder will be raring to make a mark at Mansfield Town and return to Tottenham with the hope of challenging for a first-team spot. After Abbott, it was Alfie Dorrington’s turn to get a temporary home, and he got his wish fulfilled extremely late on deadline day.

Alfie Dorrington joins Salford City on loan
Tottenham have confirmed that Alfie Dorrington has joined League Two side Salford City on loan for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign.
The Spurs academy talent spent the first half of the season on loan at Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen, but struggled for regular game time as he made 14 appearances in all competitions. The 20-year-old started just three league games as Aberdeen struggled under Jimmy Thelin, in a total contrast to his successful spell at the club last term, when he helped them lift the Scottish Cup.
Having failed to force his way into Thomas Frank’s plans since returning to the club at the start of 2026, it was sensible for Dorrington to leave on loan and get regular minutes.
“The aim is to get promoted. I spoke to the Manager and he said we want to get promoted. I see the ambition of the Club and where it wants to go, and I want to be part of that so try to do the best I can to get in the team, and help the team to get promoted,” Dorrington said in his first official interview with Salford City.
“I can’t wait to train and see everyone, get to know everyone. I know two boys here [Matty Young and Kallum [Cesay] which helps settling in, I spoke to them before I came here, and they had nothing but good things to say so I just can’t wait to get going, can’t wait to play, and push for promotion.”
“We’re pleased to be able to bring Alfie in and bolster our defensive options, and our thanks to Tottenham for trusting us to look after him for the rest of the season,” Salford boss Karl Robinson added.
“He has had a couple of very encouraging spells in Scotland with Aberdeen after impressing at youth level for his club and England, and we feel that his aerial ability and composure on the ball will add to the options we already have in the building going into what we’re hoping is a very exciting second half of the season.”
Salford are third in League Two and chasing promotion, and Dorrington will be raring to help the club achieve their objective. Hopefully, the lanky defender gets regular minutes under his belt and continues his progress. Hopefully, this loan move works out for him after a disappointing second stint at Pittodrie.
