The striker in question has been one of the few positives for Tottenham in recent weeks.
The last few matches have highlighted just how much Tottenham have missed having Dominic Solanke lead the line this season. The England international was unfortunate to miss a large part of the campaign due to an ankle injury, which prevented him from earning a start for the Lilywhites until January. He was close to returning to full fitness earlier in the season, only to suffer a setback in his recovery.
It appears that luck has finally favoured Thomas Frank on the injury front, as he welcomed the return of the 27-year-old just as Richarlison pulled his hamstring against Aston Villa in the third round of the FA Cup. Solanke has instantly slotted into the starting eleven at N17 and provided much-needed energy and belief in the final third for the North Londoners. He has already done more in four matches than Randal Kolo Muani has managed across the entire season.

Solanke marked his first start of the campaign with a crucial goal against Dortmund in the Champions League. The England international has not looked back since and has carried that momentum forward, scoring three goals in his next three matches, including a superb brace against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
Dominic Solanke is already making waves under Thomas Frank at Tottenham
Tottenham fans have long craved a commanding presence up front this season. Summer signing Randal Kolo Muani has failed to live up to expectations and has struggled to make an impact for the Lilywhites under Thomas Frank. In contrast, Dominic Solanke has showcased his quality in recent matches following his return from injury.
Chris Sutton believes Solanke plays a key role for the North Londoners, as he has all the attributes needed to make a difference this season. Speaking on BBC Radio, Sutton said,
“Spurs have a proper striker in Dominic Solanke. He is a good all-rounder, he will score goals and having a proper number nine who will run in behind and who adds variation to the play will just mix their game up.”
As Sutton rightly points out, Dominic Solanke brings a different dynamic to the Spurs attack. The England international consistently finds himself in the right positions to score and has a tendency to run the channels, creating space for his teammates to thrive in the final third. He also likes to link up with his fellow attackers, as seen against Manchester City, helping the North Londoners add variety to their play.
Solanke has done well to get back up to speed and support Spurs in attack in recent matches. Fans will now hope that the prolific striker can maintain his fine form and help the club turn its Premier League fortunes around in the months ahead. His stunning brace against Manchester City, which included a brilliant scorpion kick, will only boost his confidence. Who knows, the 27-year-old could even force his way into Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad if he continues his goal-scoring run this season.
