Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin was heavily linked with a move to Serie A in the winter window.
Tottenham Hotspur fans were hopeful of seeing their club make at least one new signing on transfer deadline day, but nothing materialised.
In mid-January, Spurs signed Conor Gallagher in a £34million deal from Atletico Madrid. Teenager left-back Souza also joined Tottenham from Santos, but other than that, no fresh faces joined Thomas Frank’s squad. Instead, the club loaned out a couple of academy starlets in the final hours of the deadline day.
There have also been a few first-teamers linked with exits in the last couple of weeks of the January transfer window. One of those was Radu Dragusin.

Tottenham rejected Juventus’ deadline-day approach for Radu Dragusin
Radu Dragusin was heavily linked with a return to Serie A. The centre-back, who’s made just 3 appearances this season, made his first start in the Premier League since recovering from an ACL injury during the 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday, emerged as a target for AC Milan and AS Roma.
Defending Italian champions Napoli also enquired about the possibility of signing the Romanian international on loan. And on transfer deadline day, there was another club from Serie A that tried signing him from Spurs.
According to a report from Tutto Juve, Juventus were planning a late, serious push to sign Dragusin. In the wake of a possible exit of a defender, the Turin giants had enquired about the 23-year-old with the hope of arranging a late deal on deadline day.

However, Tottenham completely shut the door on any potential departure on January 30th itself. This is because Frank’s squad has been ravaged by injuries, with the latest coming in defence, leading to the club sanctioning no exit.
On Sunday, Dragusin produced a strong performance in his first start for Tottenham after exactly a year, keeping Man City superstar Erling Haaland quiet. The Romanian repaid the gaffer’s faith with a solid display, demonstrating that he deserves more minutes. He is still getting back to peak fitness after sustaining a serious knee injury in January 2025, and with more minutes and rhythm under his belt, the centre-back could become a dependable squad option for Tottenham from now on until the end of the season.
With injuries aplenty in defence, Dragusin is expected to get more minutes in the coming weeks.
