The Tottenham youngster has been impressing on loan at Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga.
Tottenham Hotspur youngster Luka Vuskovic has been making headlines in the Bundesliga.
On a season-long loan at SV Hamburger, the 18-year-old has been one of the breakthrough stars of this Bundesliga campaign. The central defender has been a regular fixture for SV Hamburger, starting all 17 games in the Bundesliga since making his debut.
Luka Vuskovic has also chipped in with four goals, including the vital second-half equaliser that secured his side an unlikely 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich at the Volksparkstadion last weekend. Following his strong performance against Bayern Munich, the teenager rightly received the Man of the Match award.
For a young defender, having such composure and control against not only Bayern but most of the Bundesliga sides, is very rare. And unsurprisingly, the Croatian talent’s brilliant form in a Hamburg shirt has seen him linked with clubs across Europe, including Bayern.

Ivan Rakitic urges Luka Vuskovic to join Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich
German legend Lothar Matthaus was impressed with Vuskovic’s performance in the 2-2 draw with Bayern, calling the Tottenham-owned defender “intelligent”. Such has been the meteoric rise of Vuskovic, who won the Bundesliga’s player of the first half of the season award in January.
Former Barcelona and Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic has praised the defender’s development and maturity, tipping him to join Bayern.
“All of European football is talking about him right now. Bayern need to step on the gas. I think this boy should move to Bayern,” Ivan Rakitic said in an interview with Sky Deutschland.
“It’s incredibly satisfying to see such a young player capable of shaking up the football world like this.
“It’s no accident either, because this boy, along with his family, is already doing a lot of things right. They work very well. I hope that Croatia will have a top central defender in the next ten to fifteen years. He has everything to become one of the best central defenders. He needs to keep pushing and enjoy it. All signs point to him becoming a huge player in the future.”
Vuskovic has a contract at Tottenham until 2030, but the Hajduk Split technical director has doubts about whether the north Londoners will be able to keep his compatriot.

“I’m curious if Tottenham can hold onto him after the summer, because for me, he’s already ready for the next step to one of the absolute top clubs. And in Europe, I see only four or five clubs at that level,” Rakitic added.
Tottenham may find it difficult to keep hold of Vuskovic
Vuskovic has quickly become a leader for Hamburg, both on and off the pitch. He is certainly playing beyond his years, impressing both at the back and in front of goal for the side that returned to the Bundesliga this season after seven years in the second tier.
No wonder the towering Croatian’s consistent performances, backed by his age and high potential, has seen him become a coveted commodity in Europe. The onus now falls on Spurs to act decisively and plan a pathway to the first team for Vuskovic next season. The north Londoners have no intention of selling him and view him as a long-term investment.
However, if Bayern or any other top European bigwig come calling for his signature in the summer, Tottenham may find it difficult to keep hold of Vuskovic. After a strong season in the Bundesliga, it is obvious for Vuskovic to ask for regular starting opportunities at White Hart Lane. And if the Lilywhites cannot guarantee it, the Split-born talent could very well push to leave the club, preferably on another loan or perhaps permanently, to bring stability to his blossoming career.
