Tottenham could revisit a deal for highly-rated Bundesliga talent in the summer.
Tottenham had a very underwhelming winter transfer window, despite being linked to several players. Conor Gallagher was the only marquee addition, with left-back Souza viewed as a more project-based commodity.
Spurs had made it one of their priorities to reinforce their attacking unit in the January transfer window. Thomas Frank was keen to use the mid-season trading period to add more ingenuity and cutting-edge to his attack.
Following Son Heung-min’s departure last summer, the Lilywhites have struggled for flair and goals from wide areas. That is why the north Londoners had drafted up a shortlist of attackers, including Antoine Semenyo. Thomas Frank revealed last week that he wanted to bring Semenyo to Tottenham, but he chose to join Manchester City. Another winger who was on the club’s radar was Yan Diomande.
Spurs explored the possibility of signing Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig last month. They weren’t the only club interested; several clubs from Europe were keen on the speedy winger, but RB Leipzig decided to keep him as they feel his price could go up following his performances in the second half of this campaign.

Tottenham set to relaunch their interest in Yan Diomande
Yan Diomande has been one of the toasts of the Bundesliga this season. Following his last summer’s move from CD Leganes, he has become a key cog in RB Leipzig’s attack, notching eight goals and six assists in 21 appearances in all competitions. The 19-year-old also enjoyed a fine AFCON campaign, helping the Ivory Coast reach the quarter-finals before Egypt eliminated them.
According to a report from The Athletic, Tottenham could revive their interest in Diomande when the summer transfer window opens. It won’t be a cheap deal to do, though, with RB Leipzig expected to demand over £85million for their prized asset.

The Ivory Coast starlet is set to enter the summer market as one of the highly sought-after commodities. The teenager has already demonstrated his quality and potential in the Bundesliga, and for someone who doesn’t turn 20 until November, 14-goal contributions in 21 outings for Leipzig thus far have unsurprisingly caught the attention of several European clubs. And if he continues performing at that rate, his value will skyrocket by the summer.
Known for his pace, directness, dribbling and knack for beating defenders in one-v-one situations, Diomande would be an excellent acquisition for Tottenham. The African talent would add the much-needed flair to Spurs’ attack, whilst being a replacement for Brennan Johnson, who moved to Crystal Palace last month.
Hailed by former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, Tottenham fans would surely love to see the Leipzig man’s talents in the Premier League. However, it won’t be an easy deal to crack.
