Thomas Frank has left Tottenham after eight months in charge.
Thomas Frank has been sacked by Tottenham Hotspur after the defeat to Newcastle United on Tuesday evening.
The Danish tactician spoke about the sack at White Hart Lane, suggesting that he felt 1000% convinced he would be in the job for the game against Arsenal next weekend. That came after Spurs fell to a 2-1 defeat against Newcastle United, as Jacob Ramsey netted a second-half winner.
Defeat at home to Newcastle proved his final game in charge, with the club slipping perilously close to the drop zone. Supporters have consistently called for Thomas Frank to be axed, despite qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League. Those supporters have got their wish, and the 52-year-old has been sacked.
Tottenham part ways with Thomas Frank after eight months
Spurs are winless in their last eight league games and have not won at home turf in the Premier League since early December. In fact, they’ve not won in the league in 2026, and that run of form has left the Lilywhites just five points clear of the relegation zone.
Failing to turn the club’s fortunes, the north London club finally decided to plug the plug on the Dane.
A club statement on Wednesday read: “The Club has taken the decision to make a change in the Men’s Head Coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today. Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together.
“However, results and performances have led the Board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary. Throughout his time at the Club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, giving everything in his efforts to move the Club forward. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.”
Frank, appointed on 12 June on a three-year contract to succeed Ange Postecoglou, leaves after eight games without a Premier League win. His team are on a run of two victories in 17 in the top-flight, whilst having suffered early elimination from both domestic cup competitions.
The ex-Brentford manager has struggled to make an impression in his time in the dugout in N17, with fans becoming increasingly critical of his tactics and style of play. The dwindling form, coupled with an injury crisis, sparked genuine fears among the fanbase that Tottenham could be in the Championship next season, and it appears the board have echoed those sentiments.
The axe on Frank has finally been wielded, so the hierarchy have to find a replacement with the upcoming North London derby in mind. Now the main question remains- who replaces Frank?
