Tottenham are keeping tabs on a sought-after talent from Africa.
Tottenham Hotspur have been on a decline this season, as they continue to languish in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
Spurs managed just one marquee signing in the form of Conor Gallagher in the past winter transfer window. Gallagher has brought legs and tenacity to their midfield, which the Lilywhites have been lacking. Yves Bissouma has been integrated into the team since his return from AFCON in January, owing to the injury crisis in N17.
The Malian international has featured in recent games, but he does not have a long-term future at White Hart Lane. This is because his contract expires in the summer, and there haven’t been any talks over an extension. As Bissouma is likely to depart on a free transfer at the end of the campaign, the north Londoners are already putting plans behind the scenes to replace him in the squad.
Tottenham interested in signing FC Nordsjaelland midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Tottenham are among a host of Premier League clubs interested in signing FC Nordsjaelland sensation Caleb Yirenkyi. Spurs are understood to have sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old in action, alongside more than half the Premier League, and have been hugely impressed by his power and ball-winning skills, as well as his technical ability and the way he drives forward.
The latest product to rise from the Right to Dream academy in Ghana, Caleb Yirenkyi, moved to Denmark in February 2024 and has made significant progress in the last two years at FC Nordsjaelland. He has become a regular fixture in FC Nordsjaelland’s midfield unit, making 40 appearances thus far. The eight-cap Ghanaian international is enjoying a strong campaign, having registered two goals and five assists in 18 Superliga appearances.
Having already drawn comparisons to compatriot and former Chelsea star Michael Essien, Yirenkyi, who is also coveted by clubs from Germany and France, looks destined to play for a big European club in the near future. The report adds that Nordsjaelland value the central midfielder in excess of £20m, which would be a record sale for the Danish side.

The youngster recently signed a new long-term contract at Nordsjaelland to secure his value, meaning the Danish outfit remains in a strong negotiating position, but a deal is likely to proceed if the right offer arrives in the summer.
Yirenkyi could be a valuable long-term signing for Tottenham
One of the highly-rated young talents in African football, Yirenkyi has the required ingredients in his game to flourish at Tottenham. The 20-year-old will be required to compete with the likes of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Pape Matar Sarr and Gallagher if he arrives in N17.
But signing the Ghanaian starlet would not be straightforward. Several Premier League clubs have been on scouting missions to Denmark this season, keeping a close watch on Yirenkyi’s development. If the Lilywhites want to have a genuine chance of competing for the Nordsjaelland talent, they must at least qualify for the Europa League.
