Tottenham have been a shambles this season.
The chiefs at Hotspur Way finally ran out of patience with Thomas Frank, as the Dane was relieved of his duties with Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday morning. This call came after the 52-year-old, who was already walking on a fine thread, found himself on the losing side against Newcastle United with their home fans watching.
But while the club is having a turmoil of a season, we have seen that just in the space of a few months, the Lilywhites have managed to create yet another layer of chaos. And this time around it is as much about Thomas Frank as it is about Fabio Paratici and the incoming interim head coach Igor Tudor.
Let us go through a bit of a timeline at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
With Paratici comes his wide network and know-how of running a club, given the successes that Juventus enjoyed under his hold. And the 53-year-old was reportedly pushing to bring in Igor Tudor behind the scenes in the summer when the club was still picking and choosing the successor for Ange Postecoglou.
At the time, the North Londoners instead appointed Thomas Frank, given his credentials with Brentford.
But under the Dane head coach, the results at Tottenham deteriorated this season, so much so that Tottenham are now dragged into a relegation conversation in the Premier League.
As the results were going against the club, Paratici was vocal about relieving Frank of his duties. But his suggestions are only met with deaf ears. After not being listened to, he decides to leave Tottenham for Fiorentina.
With only days to his departure from Hotspur Way, Vinai & Co. go on to sack Frank. While that may have its own reasons, what is more of a surprise is that Spurs go on to appoint Tudor as interim.
Now, if that does not perfectly capture the dysfunction at Hotspur Way, what does?
Author Opinion
While it sounds like it, the problem here is not the man taking charge on the touchline. It is more about the alignment of the club.
If your sporting director and the board are not rowing the boat in the same direction, then your entire football operation is more on the unstable side of things. Head coaches suddenly are more of gambles than thought-through processes, and your transfer windows lack a sense of cohesion (which we have keenly seen this season).
This translates on to the players and the crowd (as he has seen in the past few weeks).
