Tottenham have brought in Igor Tudor as an interim head coach following Thomas Frank’s sacking.
Tottenham Hotspur have appointed Igor Tudor as their new head coach. He has joined Spurs until the end of the season after Thomas Frank was sacked in midweek, with the club sitting just five points above the relegation zone.
Thomas Frank departed after only eight months following a run of two wins in 17 Premier League fixtures, and the Lilywhites have turned to the experienced Croatian tactician in their bid to steer clear of the bottom three. With a wider pool of managerial candidates to pick from in the summer, Tottenham decided to go down the interim route for the final four months of this season.
Of course, with any managerial appointment, it also comes with plenty of questions. And Igor Tudor arriving in N17 is no different, with fans scratching their heads following their club’s decision to go with the 47-year-old after he was sacked by Juventus earlier this season.
ESPN pundit makes worrying claim on Igor Tudor becoming Tottenham’s interim boss
Tudor was nowhere linked initially with the Tottenham job after Frank’s exit. So, the Croat getting the job at a time when the club is in a perilous position has surprised many.
Having watched Tudor’s Juventus side for eight months, ESPN FC pundit Don Hutchinson isn’t overly impressed with Tottenham’s decision to hire him. While tweeting via X following the news of Tudor joining Spurs, explained why it is a “left-field” appointment.
“I’ve been co-commentating on Italian football for years now. Tudor will keep Spurs up, not because he is a top manager, but they would have stayed up anyway. Tudor’s Juve side was all over the place with no real structure/ identity. This is very, very left field from Spurs,” Don Hutchinson said on X.
Concerns over Tudor’s appointment are valid
Tudor has previously been in charge at Juventus, Lazio, Marseille and Galatasaray but has never spent more than two years at a single club. This is in itself is worrying, demonstrating that the 47-year-old has lacked stability in his managerial career so far. On top of that, he was dismissed by Juventus just eight months into his job in October 2025, which is perhaps the immediate red flag for the Tottenham fans.
Given that the North Londoners have already lacked organisation, control and identity for major parts of this campaign, Hutchinson’s short review of Tudor’s Juventus side is the last thing the White Hart Lane faithful would have wanted to come across. Hopefully, the experienced Croat quietens Hutchinson and other pundits in the game and impresses in his fourth-month stint at Tottenham.
