Tottenham are set to reinforce their wide options in the summer.
Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to do just enough to secure their top-flight status in the coming months.
Only seven wins in 26 Premier League fixtures led to Thomas Frank’s sacking and the hiring of Igor Tudor as the interim head coach until the end of the season. It is crucial for the club to finish the season strongly under Igor Tudor if they are to attract top players in the summer and rebuild their squad.
Tottenham were in search of a winger in the January transfer window. Brennan Johnson was sold to Crystal Palace in the first week of January, before Mohammed Kudus suffered a long-term quad injury. However, they failed to recruit a winger, and Conor Gallagher and Souza became the only winter acquisitions.
Spurs’ injury list grew last week when Wilson Odobert suffered an ACL injury in the 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United, stretching their wide options further. Thus, one of the main priorities heading into the summer transfer window will be recruiting a left-winger.
Tottenham closely monitoring RB Leipzig winger
According to an exclusive report from German outlet Fussball Daten, Tottenham are closely monitoring RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa. Arsenal and Aston Villa have scouted the youngster this season, with his performances in the Bundesliga piquing the interest of several European clubs.
Antonio Nusa was supposed to join Brentford from Club Brugge on 2024 January deadline day. That deal, however, fell through in the last minute after Brentford discovered an issue at the medical. Fast forward to the summer of 2024, and the 20-year-old often compared to Neymar, completed a move to RB Leipzig without any medical complications.
After an up-and-down first season with Leipzig, the Norwegian has been showing more consistency this term. He has notched two goals and as many assists in 19 Bundesliga outings, with Leipzig fifth in the table. The Red Bull club are in a strong position when it comes to Nusa’s future as he has a contract until 2029.
Yet, the report adds that Leipzig are willing to consider offers starting at around €50-60 million. If he impresses with Norway at this summer’s World Cup, that price will certainly skyrocket.
Spurs must try their best to land Nusa
Nusa is a quick, agile and intelligent winger who will improve Tottenham’s wide options. He can add flair and ingenuity in the final third, whilst becoming a replacement for the departed Johnson. At 20, the Norwegian is still raw in many aspects of his game, but he will improve with coaching and experience.
However, for the Lilywhites to stand any chance of bringing the Leipzig wideman in, they must at least clinch European qualification. Without European football at White Hart Lane next season, signing Nusa would be viewed as unlikely.
