Tottenham are expected to be in the transfer market for a prolific No.9 in the summer.
Igor Tudor has been tasked to get Tottenham Hotspur out of the mess and keep them safe in the Premier League.
The Lilywhites are stranded in 16th place in the table, having won just two of their last 17 league matches. As a result, they run the risk of losing key players in the summer and could also face issues attracting top talent if they fail to finish the season in a respectable position under the new interim boss.
The Tottenham hierarchy managed just two signings in the winter transfer window when the requirement was much more, given how stretched the squad has been due to injuries. There are several glaring issues within the team that need to be addressed in the next transfer window. Chief among them is the need for a prolific goalscorer who can keep Dominic Solanke on his toes, and potentially replace Richarlison, who has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid.
Tottenham among clubs keeping tabs on Nicolas Jackson
With Richarlison facing an uncertain future at White Hart Lane, Spurs must bring in an adequate replacement and fortify the squad under a new permanent head coach.
Now, according to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham are among several clubs monitoring the situation of Nicolas Jackson at Chelsea. Currently on loan at Bayern Munich and expected to return to Chelsea in the summer, the forward apparently has no future at Stamford Bridge.
Bayern Munich have no plans to sign Nicolas Jackson permanently, which leaves the Blues with a decision to make on his future. After agreeing on a loan deal with the German giants, Chelsea recalled Jackson as he was about to undergo his medical, owing to Liam Delap suffering a hamstring injury.
The Senegal international eventually got his wish to join Bayern fulfilled, with the defending Bundesliga champions striking a loan deal with Chelsea, which includes a conditional obligation to buy. The 24-year-old needs to rack up 40 appearances and play at least 45 minutes in each of them, but only has 22 games under his belt for Bayern so far, so reaching that figure by the end of the season looks unlikely.
This has put Tottenham and many Premier League clubs on red alert. The Pensioners want to sell Jackson, who needs a new club to reignite his career. However, Tottenham must not take concrete interest in signing him.
While Jackson haunted Spurs a couple of years ago by scoring a hat-trick in N17, he never managed to become a prolific goalscorer at Chelsea and was sent out on loan to Bayern. Under Vincent Kompany, the Senegalese has failed to break into the Bayern side, scoring just five times in 22 games in all competitions.
All in all, the Chelsea outcast doesn’t fit the bill at Tottenham. The Lilywhites can do a lot better than signing Jackson in the summer to solve their goalscoring woes.
