Igor Tudor recently took charge as the interim boss of Tottenham.
The chiefs at Hotspur Way are in the hot seat for the coming weeks as they decide on the long-term successor to Thomas Frank, who was relieved of his duties a couple of weeks back. While the North Londoners did bring in Igor Tudor to do the job from now until the end of the season, the Lilywhites will be looking for a stable leader on the touchline who can take this club back into the competitive side of things.
You’d think that Tottenham will appoint a permanent head coach when the summer comes around, unless the outcome of games dramatically shifts over the coming months and the Lilywhites find themselves more in the thick of a possible relegation.
While there are many high-profile names being linked with a move to North London for the summer, with former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino and Roberto De Zerbi leading the rumour mill. There is also a certain former Tottenham midfielder, Michael Carrick, who has emerged as a surprise contender following his impressive work as he continues his time as interim manager at Old Trafford.
Manchester United not ready to commit with Michael Carrick
According to recent reports from Teamtalk, while the hierarchy at M16 remains quite satisfied with what Carrick has brought to the table in the short term, they do not currently see him as the frontrunner for the permanent position in charge of the United Reds.
While there has been this massive impact that the former Middlesbrough midfielder has had at Man Utd, they are said to already be conducting background checks and exploring possible alternatives to take up the managerial options role rather than rushing into appointing the 44-year-old purely on this interim momentum that he has created at Old Trafford.
Is Michael Carrick a realistic option at N17?
We have seen how Carrick has had this calm tactical approach in the past weeks. And given that he is already familiar (at least in a sense) with the culture at Tottenham, that certainly makes him an intriguing prospect. Then there is this massive development that he has had as a coach, which has earned a lot of plaudits from pundits as well as fans, which makes Tottenham want to monitor the situation closely.
Now whether Tottenham will formally move for him will depend on what final stance they take at Old Trafford, but for now, Carrick does remain in managerial limbo with Tottenham watching keenly.
