Tottenham are ready to offload Guglielmo Vicario and sign a new No.1 in the summer.

Guglielmo Vicario has been an underwhelming signing for Tottenham Hotspur.

Over two-and-a-half years, Vicario hasn’t managed to earn the trust of the fans. The Italian international has lacked command, composure and reliability, costing the team several points with mistakes. Going by the recent links to new goalkeepers, all signs certainly point towards Vicario’s exit from Spurs in the summer.

As Vicario is “fully open” to joining Inter Milan at the end of the season, Tottenham have to find a new No.1 before the 2026/27 campaign commences. And it looks like they could raid one of their London rivals to replace Vicario.

Tottenham showing interest in Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson

Former Spurs chief scout Mick Brown has revealed that Tottenham are showing interest in Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Dean Henderson has cemented himself as Crystal Palace’s No.1 in recent years. He left Manchester United in 2023 to become a regular starter elsewhere, and after strong loan spells with Shrewsbury Town, Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest, he earned a move to Crystal Palace.

The four-cap England international has been a calming presence between the sticks for the Eagles. Despite the likes of Walter Benitez and Sam Johnstone attempting to oust him as the first-choice goalkeeper, Henderson’s confidence levels haven’t been shaken. The 28-year-old’s consistent performances in a Palace shirt have caught the attention of Tottenham among several clubs.

“Tottenham are looking at a few new goalkeepers. If they can come to an agreement to sell Vicario in the summer, they’re going to need to bring in a replacement for him and somebody who will improve their side. The Crystal Palace goalkeeper, Dean Henderson, is somebody I hear Tottenham have been impressed by,” Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider.

“Since the start of last season, he’s really upped his game for Palace and has become a crucial part of the success he’s had. He’s become a really top-class goalkeeper.

“He’s an England international as well, which will always appeal to a side like Tottenham.

“From a Palace point of view, they’re not going to let him go easily because they’ve got other issues they have to deal with without having to replace their goalkeeper. He’s a crucial player for them, he’s the captain now after Guehi has left, so it won’t be easy for Tottenham if they want to make a move for him.”

Henderson would be a smart signing for Tottenham

Henderson has been named the Palace captain since Marc Guehi’s departure to Manchester City last month. While he has been doing his job, Oliver Glasner’s side have been in awful form in recent weeks and months. Owing to Glasner’s announcement of his departure at the end of the season, and the futures of several players at the club have been called into question, it wouldn’t be surprising if Henderson decides to jump ship amid a chaotic situation at Selhurst Park.

Prising the English shot-stopper away would be a difficult task, but if he decides to leave, Spurs have to be all over him. Henderson would be an instant upgrade on the error-prone Vicario, who has been linked with a move to Juventus too. However, a lot of this will depend on which league the Lilywhites are competing in, with relegation not beyond the realms of possibility.
