Tottenham learn asking price of EPL’s long-throw expert who terrorised Arsenal recently

Tottenham will require an adequate replacement for Pedro Porro if he departs in the summer.

Full focus right now at Tottenham Hotspur is keeping the club in the Premier League. Sunday’s defeat to Fulham left Igor Tudor’s just four points above West Ham United in the final relegation spot.

The Spurs bosses may eye a squad overhaul after back-to-back relegation-threatening campaigns. The unthinkable relegation this term would lead to a host of changes in the roster, as several players are likely to refrain from playing in the Championship.

The injury crisis has stretched Tottenham’s squad to the limit, which is why the club is prioritising depth in the defensive unit in the upcoming transfer window. As far as the right-back department is concerned, Pedro Porro and Djed Spence are the current options in the roster. However, with Porro attracting interest from Inter Milan ahead of the summer transfer window, the Lilywhites would need a quality replacement if they decide to sell him in the summer.

Brentford’s valuation of key defender emerges amid Tottenham interest

Tottenham were exploring the possibility of signing Brentford full-back Michael Kayode in January. But a move did not happen as Brentford had no intention whatsoever to part ways with one of their key players midway through the campaign.

Having stayed at the Gtech Community Stadium, Michael Kayode has grown in stature under new manager Keith Andrews. The Italian has been a mainstay in the Bees’ backline, starting 27 of their 28 league games this season. He even terrorised Arsenal in the recently concluded EPL fixture. Andrea Ritorni, one of the members of the full-back’s entourage, recently spoke about his client’s ambition to take the next big step in his career.

A few days later, the youngster’s valuation has emerged. According to a report outlet Calciomercato IT, Kayode, the long-throw expert is valued at €30m by Brentford. The full-back has attracted interest from Inter Milan, who would like an initial loan deal for the youngster in the summer.

Inter Milan aren’t the only club interested in the player. Spurs could also face competition from Newcastle United for Kayode, whose stock has grown in the Premier League this season. €30m for a full-back who is dynamic, fast, physical, and so young with a high ceiling would be a bargain for any club, and it is unlikely Brentford would settle for that fee if they decide to sell him. It would take a lot more than the mooted valuation to persuade the Bees to part ways with the 21-year-old in the summer.

As for Tottenham, Kayode would be a fantastic fit. He has proven himself to be a capable full-back in the Premier League and would represent a smart potential long-term replacement for Porro. And if the North Londoners manage to bag his signature for €30m, it would be daylight robbery.
