Tottenham recently suffered a 2-1 defeat against Fulham.
Tottenham are enduring a difficult campaign at N17, and that continued last weekend when the Lilywhites suffered yet another defeat as Marco Silva’s Fulham got the better of them this time around.
It was a game that looked flowing only one way for most of it as the Cottagers put two past Vicario to get all three points. Tottenham did find a consolation in the second half when Richarlison got past Bernd Leno, but it didn’t seem to have much effect on the game as Fulham contributed to looking the better side.
While it is not only about results, given that the Lilywhites have already had a few of those this campaign, but also about the fact that interim head coach Igor Tudor chose to learn on the job as he changed from his preferred back three philosophy to a back four that he named at Craven Cottage last weekend. It was something that raised a few eyebrows from the supporters as well as pundits.
This lack of vision and stability just shows how far Tottenham have fallen in the past couple of seasons (despite that Europa triumph under Ange).
Patrick Vieira speaks on Tottenham struggles
And now Arsenal icon Patrick Vieira has given his say on the Tottenham situation while describing the Lilywhites as “one of the greatest clubs in London and the Premier League.” The Frenchman went on to admit that the current situation around Hotspur Way is “sad”.
He did not use this period to revel in the struggles that Tottenham are enduring, but he went on to give what was a measured (but damning) assessment of realities at N17.
The Frenchman told Sky Sports host David Jones as he reflected on Spurs current situation after that Fulham defeat (via. GiveMeSport):
“It is sad of course, we’re talking about one of the greatest clubs in London and the Premier League.
“But in the last couple of years, it is a club that has spent a lot of money, with no structure, no direction but with quality players. That means if you don’t have a proper structure or direction, you can spend as much money as you want, but it won’t bring you success.
“Trying to understand where they want to go is difficult to explain.”
Tudor has a job at hand…
Interim boss Igor Tudor, who just took charge of proceedings a couple of weeks back, has already overseen consecutive defeats at Hotspur Way with a loss to league leaders Arsenal followed by the setback at Craven Cottage last weekend. And now with only 10 games to go, the Lilywhites sit just four points above that relegation zone, which makes the upcoming midweek game against Crystal Palace more intriguing.
The defeat against the Cottagers also extended the Lilywhites’ winless run in the Premier League to 10 games. This is Spurs’ longest such streak since 1994. In fact, those numbers get more damning, as Tottenham have only won two of their last 19 games in the English top tier, the most recent of which was at the end of 2025.
Can Tudor turn it around?
