Tottenham have been keeping tabs on this midfielder from Fiorentina.
Tottenham Hotspur do have this dire need to compound on their options in the middle of the park. And while many expected the North Londoners to bring a few new faces in the second phase in the January window, that didn’t happen as only Conor Gallagher arrived from Atletico Madrid.
This means that the chiefs at Hotspur Way have to dip into the market once again when the summer comes around and bring in a new midfielder. And it looks like the North Londoners are already keeping check of their needs as they reportedly make initial enquiries to bring Nicolo Fagioli to N17. (h/t Sport Witness)
Tottenham to pull Paratici line of contact?
Fagioli is at AFC Fiorentina right now, a club where Tottenham already have a chain of contact in former sporting director Fabio Paratici who moved to the Serie A giants just a few weeks back.
Fagioli moved to Fiorentina on an initial loan deal back in January 2025 before he completed a permanent move last summer. And while it looked a bit challenging for him to settle into the role, he has now established himself as a key figure in the midfield for Paolo Vanoli.
Tottenham are not alone in their pursuit of Fagioli
The North Londoners are not the only side that has made contact looking for a possible transfer, as the Lilywhites’ English top-tier rivals Newcastle United have also been monitoring his situation closely ahead of the summer transfer window.
The technical ability that the 25-year-old, who has clocked regular minutes, has, alongside the tactical intelligence that he seems to ooze on the pitch, has caught the attention of Tottenham and Newcastle. And given how both clubs are looking to bring a sense of composure and control in the middle of the park, Fagioli looks like an ideal option.
He comes in with that ability to dictate tempo in the second phase while knowing how to play when attracting pressure. He is also good at progressing play from deeper zones, which makes him an attractive option (especially for someone like Tottenham, who are looking to build up their structure and ability to progress from the first phase).
Tottenham do hold an advantage in the pursuit given their close relationship with Paratici. Hopefully if push comes to shove, Vinai can leverage that into a move for Fagioli.
