The star in question has often come under-fire for his performances at Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has been repeatedly linked with a Hotspur Way exit when the summer transfer window comes around.

He has been one of those players who have repeatedly been stuck for his performance since he moved to England, and given that he has suitors taking him back to Serie A, he is open to swapping Spurs for new employers.

And one of the clubs that has repeatedly come up in the rumour mill has been Inter Milan, with the Serie A giants interested in signing the 29-year-old. They are now looking for approval from their ownership before they decide on pushing on and sanctioning a move for Vicario.

Inter looking at Vicario; Need owners approval

Inter are already planning for the future as the chiefs at San Siro look to plan for replacing veteran goalkeeper Yann Sommer, who is getting close to the latter stages of his career.

Vicario is said to be one of the names that is high on Inter’s shortlist. Their club CEO Beppe Marotta is particularly keen on signing the Lilywhites’ shot-stopper, and the report (via. Sport Witness) goes on to claim that they have been following him quite closely and have already made some progress with the 29-year-old’s representatives as they look to explore a potential move.

But that being said, their interest has not materialised into anything concrete just yet, as the biggest obstacle they face to conclude this deal is expected to be their asking price.

Inter are looking at a Vicario transfer for a price tag around €25 million. But Tottenham are likely to demand a higher fee if they are to let the #1 goalkeeper out the door at Hotspur Way.

And this valuation gap has led Marotta to seek permission from Inter’s Oaktree ownership group before they go forward with any negotiations.

Inter already have figured out their alternative to Vicario

But if Vicario is too expensive for Tottenham, Inter could turn their attention to Aston Villa keeper Emiliano Martínez, given they can already use the links they established with the Argentine back in the winter window.

The report states that the former Arsenal star had been offered to Inter in January.

Author Opinion

Vicario has a strong reputation among the Serie A clubs given how he enjoyed that impressive spell at Empoli FC before moving to Tottenham. And even internationally, given that he is looked at as the first deputy to Gianluigi Donnarumma, that stature helps the suitors’ interest.

We will see where this goes, but given that Inter are prepping for a long-term change of personnel between the sticks, they will surely be in conversations for Vicario come summer.
