Tottenham brought in Igor Tudor in a bid to turn around the club’s domestic fortunes, but replacing Thomas Frank with the Croat has not given that immediate boost that many at Hotspur Way expected.
The former Juventus manager has come in and found it difficult to find any sense of form, much like his predecessor. He has been on the touchline for three consecutive games wearing that Spurs crest, and his side has ended on the losing side all three times.
This has left Tottenham just one point adrift of that drop zone in the Premier League. And the chiefs at N17 won’t want to take any more chances, and this is where the latest report from Football Insider suggests that Ryan Mason could be in line for a shock return to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The report states that Mason is seen as someone who would be a ‘good fit’ if he were to take charge on an interim basis until the end of the season. The hierarchy at Hotspur Way would be holding their ground on a short-term appointment (much like they did with Tudor) before they look for a long-term head coach in the off-season.
Given that Mason is familiar with everything Tottenham, he does make a logical solution.

The former Lilywhites midfielder has taken charge of Tottenham on an interim basis not once but twice. First, in 2021, he famously took the sidelines after Jose Mourinho was shown the door. And a similar opportunity knocked on his door again in 2023 after Antonio Conte left the club.

Mason left Tottenham last summer to take charge of his first permanent senior managerial role with West Bromwich Albion, and while he enjoyed a promising start to his tenure, the results did not materialize, and he was relieved of his duties in January.
But despite that setback, the aforementioned report states that Mason remains highly regarded within the coaching structure at N17, and that is what can end up ultimately opening up the door for him to return to Hotspur Way even if it is as a temporary solution.
