James Maddison name-drops Tottenham star who is good at darts after legendary Gary Anderson connection surfaces

The Spurs playmaker opened up about his massive love for the sport and named a hidden talent.

James Maddison absolutely loves playing darts. The English playmaker famously throws an imaginary arrow to celebrate scoring a goal. That iconic routine caught the eye of two-time world champion Gary Anderson. The legendary Scottish star personally reached out to praise the celebration. The midfielder even backed the veteran heavily during a previous Professional Darts Corporation World Championship final broadcast on Sky Sports.

The Tottenham Hotspur star recently appeared on the Double Top podcast to discuss his passion. He admitted the standard on the oche is extremely high among professional footballers. The attacker name-dropped a current teammate who handles the arrows incredibly well at the training ground. Micky van de Ven is apparently a fantastic player.

“Micky van de Ven is pretty good,” the midfielder explained. “But at Leicester, the level was really high. Jamie Vardy is very good.”

Fierce hotel room competition

The creative maestro spent five amazing years in Leicester before his massive transfer to North London. He revealed the dartboard was a permanent fixture on away trips. The setup helped build massive squad chemistry before huge matches.
“We actually had a really good darts school,” the England international stated. “We took the board to every away game, so basically every week. If we played in Europe it went along as well, even onto the plane.”

The competition was incredibly fierce inside the dressing room. Players like Harvey Barnes and Kiernan Dewsbury Hall constantly hit massive scores during their heated hotel sessions. The night before a fixture, a highly competitive tournament was held. About eight of us would be involved, sometimes staff as well,” the former Foxes star added.
