The inevitable finally happened! Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that they have mutually parted ways with interim head coach Igor Tudor.
Igor Tudor was installed as the interim Spurs head coach in February after Thomas Frank was sacked. The 47-year-old endured a terrible short stint in North London, winning just one of his seven games in all competitions. He only managed to pick up a point from five Premier League games- a 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield.
The Croatian tactician’s final game in charge was last Sunday’s 3-0 home defeat to relegation rivals Nottingham Forest, which left Tottenham 17th in the Premier League table, one point above the drop zone. Currently in his homeland, grieving the demise of his father, Mario, Tudor’s sacking has been handled with utmost sensitivity and respect by the Spurs officials.

With seven make-or-break games remaining in the season, the North London club must now search for someone else to lead the team. Bruno Salter, who was Tudor’s assistant coach and conducted the post-match press conference following the Nottingham Forest game, will oversee training as the club searches for their next manager – whether short or long-term.
Reports suggest Tottenham could turn to an internal appointment, someone from within, rather than making another external appointment. Seasoned-campaigner Ben Davies has emerged as a shock candidate to take over the reins until the end of the season.
Tottenham don’t have another fixture until they take on Sunderland on April 12th, and reliable Football London journalist Alasdair Gold has given an update on the club’s hunt for a new coach. He says on his X account that the Lilywhites are expecting to appoint a new head coach in the next couple of days after Tudor’s sacking.
The club don’t have anyone lined up; however, the officials are hopeful of having a new gaffer in place by the time the first-team players return from international duty later this week. This would give the new manager around 10 days to work with the group of players before the away game at Sunderland.
Roberto De Zerbi’s appointment appears unlikely
Transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Roberto De Zerbi remains Tottenham’s “dream appointment”. De Zerbi is available now after mutually parting ways with Marseille last month. However, the Italian wants to know which division the North Londoners will compete in next season before taking up the role.
This means the immediate appointment of De Zerbi is unlikely. which could see Tottenham pivot to survival specialists. A short-term firefighter is the need of the hour, but with Sean Dyche laughing off after being linked with the club last week, our club officials must find someone quickly.
