Tottenham-linked Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemovic emerges as a priority for Inter Milan
Tottenham have shown an interest in signing Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemovic after his strong performances in Serie A this season.
After initially joining on loan, Sassuolo made the centre-back’s move permanent last year. Tarik Muharemovic has been a consistent performer for Sassuolo, registering two goals and as many assists in 26 games this season. Having shone in Serie A, it was unlikely that he wouldn’t have caught the attention of one of the league’s top clubs.
According to Italian transfer expert Alfredo Pedulla, Inter Milan have joined Tottenham in the race for Muharemovic’s signature. They have recently made contact with the Bosnia defender’s representatives over a possible summer move. Sassuolo value their star defender at around €30 million, but it is worth noting that Juventus would be entitled to 50%, as agreed with Neroverdi at the time of the sale in 2025.
Muharemovic recently played a key role in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s qualification to this summer’s World Cup, beating Italy in a penalty shootout in one of the playoff finals. Inter Milan view the 23-year-old as a potential replacement for Alessandro Bastoni, who Barcelona wants.
Inter entering the mix is a hammer blow for Tottenham in the Sassuolo defender’s pursuit. €30 million is a fair valuation for a young defender performing very well in Serie A, and Spurs have the financial muscle to pay it. However, Inter have been competing for titles, playing regularly in the Champions League and have a stable environment in contrast to Tottenham.
Eventually, a lot will depend on Tottenham’s status at the end of the season. Muharemovic could be a smart, long-term investment at White Hart Lane, but Spurs must avoid overpaying or being drawn into a bidding war with Inter.
