Tottenham talent Luka Vuskovic has shone on loan at HSV Hamburger in the Bundesliga this season.
Tottenham Hotspur will be fearful about the future of Luka Vuskovic as we inch closer to the summer.
The North Londoners signed Luka Vuskovic from Hajduk Split in the summer of 2023. He had a fantastic time out on loan at KVC Westerlo in Belgium, before the teenage prospect officially arrived at Tottenham last summer. As the big Croat was deemed not ready to challenge the likes of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Kevin Danso for a first-team spot, he was sent out on loan to Bundesliga newbies HSV Hamburg for the 2025-26 season.
Vuskovic is earning rave reviews at HSV Hamburg, becoming their mainstay at the back. The 19-year-old is one of HSV Hamburg’s most important players, having made 25 league appearances this season, helping his side to keep five clean sheets in the process. He has also chipped in with five goals and an assist.

The Croatian international, who has been tipped for a bright future by his legendary compatriot Luka Modric, has been a revelation in the Bundesliga this season, starring for promoted Hamburg as they have mostly avoided being dragged into a relegation battle. The centre-back’s sensational displays have earned him lavish praise from several sections of the world, whilst being coveted by top European clubs.
Vuskovic previously suggested that he would be keen to stay at Hamburg for another season in order to play with his brother Mario, who has been banned since 2022 for failing a drug test. However, the Bundesliga club believe it is not possible. As a result, the young defender is set to return to N17 in the summer.
And, Vuskovic has now opened up on his future. When asked by German newspaper FAZ about his future, the youngster simply pointed to his long-term contract at Spurs.
“After this season, I’ll be a Tottenham player again. I have a contract there until 2030.”
Good news for Tottenham?
Loaning out Vuskovic in 2025 made sense, with the centre-half in need of minutes on the pitch. However, barely anyone would have imagined the 19-year-old to become a firm fan favourite at Volksparkstadion and become one of the most in-demand defenders heading into the summer market.
The 6ft 4ins tall Croatian’s future, as a result, has been up in the air, but his recent comments would have calmed down the nerves in the N17 offices. As he has still four years left on his contract, the Lilywhites hold all the cards on his future. Prising the Split-born talent from Tottenham will be extremely difficult, but things could change if they go down.
With one last roll of the dice to save their season, Spurs announced the hiring of Roberto De Zerbi as their new head coach earlier this week. He has seven games to save the club from utter embarrassment. If De Zerbi can fulfil his first and foremost objective, it will only strengthen Tottenham’s chances of keeping hold of the highly-rated Vuskovic.
