Brutal opponent comeback ends Tottenham Under 19s unbeaten streak in a second-half collapse

The young Lilywhites tasted rare defeat at Hotspur Way following an unexpected and brutal second-half collapse.

The youth ranks usually provide a glorious escape for the N17 faithful during highly stressful Premier League weekends. However, the Professional Game Academy League delivered a rather harsh and brutal reality check this Wednesday afternoon. The promising Women Under 19 squad suffered their very first defeat in six completely different and tough competitive matches today.

Things initially looked incredibly bright under the sunny skies and beautiful 23-degree weather at Hotspur Way. Grace Breen got the home side off to a genuinely perfect start exactly nine minutes into the contest. She stepped up and smashed a beautiful 30 yard free kick straight into the bottom corner.

That massive early momentum completely disappeared almost instantly. Talented goalkeeper Erin Radbourne pulled off a brilliant initial save during a highly dangerous one-on-one situation. Yet Emelia King reacted the fastest to poke the loose rebound home and officially level the match right at 16 minutes of play.

Isobel Stewart punishes defensive errors as Sheffield United completely silence the Tottenham faithful

The visiting team smelled blood and completely flipped the script shortly after the half hour mark. Isobel Stewart found acres of open space and drilled a low shot into the net to complete the stunning turnaround. The North Londoners headed into the dressing room trailing 1-2 at halftime.

The home side desperately hunted down a crucial equalizer throughout the entire second period. Ruby Mace sent a brilliant cross towards the back post, but Breen nodded her header narrowly wide. Substitute Waris Deria also fired off target as pure frustration noticeably grew across the entire football pitch this afternoon.

Pushing extra bodies forward naturally left huge defensive gaps at the back. Alexandra Rigg ruthlessly capitalized on these mistakes deep into stoppage time to seal a massive 1-3 victory for the away side. Tottenham‘s official club reporters correctly noted that the young girls struggled heavily to create clear cut scoring chances today. This incredibly frustrating collapse marks their first actual loss since February 25.
