Atletico Madrid plotting a €60m move for injured Tottenham star who is on 9 G/A this season

Tottenham might lose a boatload of their stars should they get relegated.

Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are said to be plotting a move to sign Tottenham winger Mohammed Kudus when summer arrives, according to a recent report from Fichajes.

The report states that the Spanish club are said to value the Ghanaian at €60 million and are already considering making a formal approach to sign him at the end of the season.

Kudus interest arrives at an interesting time…

It is news that arrives at the worst possible moment, especially from a Lilywhites fan’s point of view, given Kudus has just suffered a fresh hamstring injury which requires him to go under the knife and places him at a point where he could miss the rest of the season.

The former Hammers star was on the sidelines for close to 100 days working his way back from an original hamstring problem that he picked up in January. But just as positive news was coming from the Spurs camp around him, he suffered a new injury in an individual training session last week that has now ended his season and put his World Cup participation in doubt.

But then this interest from Atletico at precisely this moment shows how his profile and quality are regarded across Europe, even as his immediate availability and injury become increasingly complicated.

From Kudus’ side of things, the appeal to move to Riyadh Air Metropolitano would be quite clear given that Atletico Madrid will offer him Champions League football year in year out, and then they are also genuine title contenders in La Liga for most of the season. And he has a world-class manager in Simeone.

Kudus signed a long-term contract when he joined from West Ham in the 2025 summer window, so Tottenham are not under any pressure to sell and will surely hold a lot of leverage on the negotiation table. Before his injury run this season, Kudus was arguably the North Londoners’ most dangerous attacker, given he was the only one who created chances (9 G/A this season) and was trying to dribble through blocks.

He is 25 (at the time of writing) and will be approaching the peak of his career, and ideally Tottenham would like to keep him at N17 given how he can open games on his own. But then we also need to see which division Tottenham finds itself in when next season comes around.
