The midfielder turned 20 only a couple of months ago.
The Gunners used that Eze transfer to show how far ahead they are from Tottenham last summer. They followed it up with two magnificent performances as they beat Tottenham on 4-1 scorelines twice in the season.
And now it looks like Mikel Arteta is staking a claim and a half as Arsenal are said to be getting ready to make a surprising move for Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall when the next summer window comes around. The Gunners are said to be preparing a bid with finances around £50m for his signatures, according to a report from CaughtOffside.
Lucas Bergvall has interest from around PL & beyond
The 20-year-old Sweden international has been growing in performances this season, and despite a bit of injury problems, that has been enough for him to become one of the most wanted midfielders in European football right now, with Chelsea and Barcelona also expressing interest in his signature.
It is more of the current situation, given that if Tottenham are to be relegated, the Lilywhites may need to make some fire sales that could open doors for above suitors to someone like Bergvall.
Ideally the interest from Chelsea and Barca is understandable, but these rumours of Arsenal interest come more of a shock given the rivalry between both the clubs. But it is not only the cream of the clubs. Gianluca Di Marzio has shared his thoughts on his future at N17 as well, insisting that now Fiorentina sporting director Fabio Paratici (who was originally involved in bringing Bergvall to N17 during his time at Hotspur Way) might try to sign the Swede if he becomes available.
Tottenham would not let Lucas Bergvall leave without a resolve
Bergvall has been a key player for Tottenham this season, making 20 appearances in the Premier League despite being forced onto some time on the sidelines with injury. But the thing with him is, when he has had time on the pitch, the Swede has made a big impact. A good example is from yesterday when he was involved in Spurs’ second goal in the 2-2 draw with Brighton (Dropping a 7/10 performance). His push to press won the ball before Simons finessed it to give Tottenham the lead.
That being said, if Tottenham manages to stay in the English top tier, it will surely be really tough for any of the above-mentioned suitors to buy Bergvall.
For Arsenal to even have a chance, they would have to make an offer that’s way higher than what anyone expects. Surely much more then that £50m fee.
