Valencia circle free transfer move for controversial Tottenham midfielder who hasn’t lived up to expectations

The midfielder’s stay at Hotspur Way has been marred by controversies aplenty.

Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma was bound for a Hotspur Way exit in last summer’s transfer window, but that move did not conclude at the time with an ill-timed injury, and he was forced into staying at Hotspur Way. But when the next summer comes around, that looks surely like the window when the Malian international will look to move away from N17 and start a new chapter in his career.

Bissouma didn’t live up to expectations at N17

When the Lilywhites brought Bissouma from Brighton & Hove Albion, there were massive expectations for him. A wide section of fans were expecting him to come in and control the second phase, whilst getting better at opponents’ sequences and driving the team forward on the ball.

But instead, what followed at Tottenham was nothing near what he was showing for his former employers. There were flashes but without any sense of rhythm. And then Tottenham ended up with players who continued to slip further and further out of the picture at N17. His stint so far has also been marred by several controversies. And this season alone tells the story.

He has just nine appearances under his belt this season. He has not made any sense of impact, and neither has he shown any real signs which tells us that it will under Roberto De Zerbi.

Spanish giants looking to sign Yves Bissouma

And with his exit looking more certain, Spanish giants Valencia CF are looking to land his signing on a free transfer given that his contract with the Lilywhites runs down at the end of this season. (h/t Fichajes)

The report states that Valencia are looking at Bissouma as a complete profile that comes with minimal risk given his free availability. And with him, they think they can rebuild with someone who has that capacity to anchor the midfield.

Valencia wants to move early for him to beat any other suitors to his signature. There has been interest from Turkish clubs in the news for the 29-year-old, and you’d expect them to capitalize on their interest into a signing as well when the summer comes closer.

For Tottenham, losing Bissouma will be less about losing a key player; instead, his departure will clear space for other transfers given how the Lilywhites are expected to undergo a squad rejuvenation of their own in the summer window.
