This run of difficult performances gave rise to quite a few questions on the chiefs behind the scenes. And this is expected to lead to a massive revamp of their squad at Hotspur Way.
And as we come near to the summer window, it increasingly looks like Radu Dragusin will be one of the names heading out the doors at Hotspur Way.
Dragusin has had quite a frustrating time at Tottenham since moving to Hotspur Way from Genoa. The frustrations did rise to an exit level in the winter window, where his exit looked more like a deal done. Though that did not happen, and he ended up staying put at N17. But it looks like he will actively look to push for an exit when summer comes around.
Reports in Romania from Spotmedia suggest that Dragusin has had enough, and his message to his agent is clearly to find a new club for him, irrespective of whether Tottenham stays in the Premier League or not.
Dragusin came with high expectations at Tottenham
When Tottenham signed Dragusin from Genoa, there were high expectations from him. A wide section of the Lilywhites fans were thinking that they had signed a physically dominant defender with room to grow into a starting role at N17. And the fact that the Lilywhites beat Bayern Munich to his signing just added that extra layer.
But instead of all the headlines he took when Spurs signed him, Dragusin has been caught between profiles at Hotspur Way.
Cristian Romero gives you that aggressive front-footed defending. While Micky van de Ven adds recovery pace and composure in space in the backline. In fact, even Kevin Danso has managed to carve out a role for himself at Hotspur Way given his always-available presence in the dressing room.
And while Dragușin has shown us flashes of his capabilities. It has been a bit of aerial strength and a bit of recovery runs; everything is still kind of raw in a way that stands out in Serie A environments. And it looks more and more like that he would be doing that in a league he knows when the summer comes around.
