The star in question will most probably leave the club this summer.

Tottenham are said to be willing to listen to offers for skipper Cristian Romero when the summer window comes around, and a recent report from CaughtOffside suggests that the Lilywhites would be open to accepting a fee worth around €60-65 million for his signature.

Tottenham won’t mind selling Argentine skipper?

The €50m Romero has been an inconsistent figure at Hotspur Way of late, and his off-pitch antics have been a story of their own along the ongoing campaign. And then the Argentine World Cup winner got hurt in the 1-0 loss to Sunderland a fortnight back, and that injury has not only got his chances to go to the World Cup in the summer in jeopardy but also made the club rethink his long-term future at Hotspur Way.

Romero has always been seen as one of the integral players at Hotspur Way, and that was shown in the record deal that the club offered him at the start of the season, but it now looks like the North Londoners are already considering a possible sale. It comes down to a blend of the aggressive nature of his play that has got Spurs in trouble time and again alongside all the comments that he has been making this season.

All these things are making the club wonder if he’s really the right person to invest in for the long haul.

Man United among Spanish giants race for singing Romero

Spanish giants Atletico Madrid had been aggressively linked with signing Romero last summer. And they have continued to keep their interest given Diego Simeone’s admiration for Romero. The way Romero plays with that feistiness and that will to always look to win the ball back while having his heart on his sleeve is exactly what Simeone likes in a defender.

Atleti’s city rivals Real Madrid are also said to be keeping a close eye on things. They are looking at him as a possible replacement to Rüdiger, especially given all the injury troubles of Eder Militao and David Alaba.

But alongside the Spanish duo, Manchester United have also expressed interest in signing Romero. His experience in the Premier League and the fact that he has shown his elite levels in a placed structure make the chiefs at United think that he would be a great choice at Old Trafford, especially if Tottenham are willing to sit down and talk about a price that works for everyone involved.

And Tottenham would be open to that sale if their pricing ask were met. But how will the fans take this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
