Tottenham-linked Brazilian midfielder wanted by Serie A giants Napoli.
Tottenham Hotspur have had creativity problems this season, which has seen the team struggle in front of goal.
Spurs signed Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons to solve the creativity issue in the injury absences of James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski. Kudus was Tottenham’s most influential player in the final third in the first half of the season before he got injured in January. Simons has only managed to show flashes of his brilliance, and unfortunately, he suffered an ACL injury against Wolves last weekend and has been ruled out for the foreseeable future.
With Maddison yet to return to action, coupled with the likes of Joao Palhinha and Yves Bissouma facing uncertain futures, the Lilywhites are plotting a major midfield overhaul. Reinforcements will be necessary if Tottenham want to do well next season, and getting in profiles that suit Roberto De Zerbi’s style of play are a must.
Tottenham-linked Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara wanted by Napoli
Spurs are likely to make new signings across the pitch, regardless of their status at the end of the season, with Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara linked with a move to N17.
Gabriel Sara has proven to be an excellent buy for Galatasaray. Since joining from Norwich City in 2024, the 26-year-old has been the Turkish outfit’s creative force with 15 assists (8 goals) in 87 appearances thus far. He has also chipped in with eight goals, whilst impressing with his flexibility by operating in several positions across midfield and attack.
Following a strong season with Galatasaray, the Brazilian is not short of suitors. According to Italian daily Il Mattino, Napoli are eyeing a move for Sara. The Italian side views the versatile midfielder as more of an ‘exotic’ target for the summer window.
Napoli have fallen short in retaining the Serie A crown, and are subsequently planning to reinforce several areas of their squad. The engine room is apparently at the top of their agenda, and Sara has been identified as a potential option.
Galatasaray are close to winning the Super Lig title, which will subsequently see them qualify for next year’s Champions League. Napoli are second in Serie A and are expected to make it to the Champions League as well. So, if Sara decides to leave Galatasaray, Napoli could be a tempting destination in comparison to Tottenham.
Spurs will not participate in Europe next season and are currently fighting for their lives in the Premier League. If De Zerbi fails to keep the club up, that will certainly extinguish their chances of landing Sara. Otherwise, the Brazilian would be a strong signing, offering muscle, energy, creativity, power and goals from the middle of the park.
