Tottenham have revived their interest in a Premier League talent.
Xavi Simons has become the latest long-term casualty for Tottenham Hotspur. The Dutchman ruptured his ACL in his team’s 1-0 success over Wolves at Molineux on Saturday, joining the likes of Wilson Odobert and Mohammed Kudus in the infirmary.
James Maddison became a victim of ACL injury in August 2025, and after an arduous six-month rehab and conditioning, he is closing in on a return to action. He has been included in the Spurs squad in the last two games against Brighton and Wolves, but the medical department is yet to give the creative midfielder the green signal to feature again.
With just four games left to play, Roberto De Zerbi is already facing a crisis in his squad due to injury problems and potential summer exits. In addition to Simons, Dominic Solanke sustained a muscle injury against Wolves. It remains to be seen whether Solanke will be fit to play again this season, while Randal Kolo Muani is set to depart upon the expiry of his loan move from PSG.
Amid the problems in the attacking department, it looks like Tottenham have reignited their interest in a Premier League winger.
Tottenham plan to make €25m offer for Manchester City winger Savinho
Spurs notably attempted to sign Manchester City winger Savinho during the latter stages of the last summer transfer window. Savinho was also keen on a move to Hotspur Way after agreeing on personal terms with Tottenham. However, the deal failed to materialise due to Pep Guardiola’s late intervention, with the Brazilian international instead signing a contract extension at the Etihad Stadium to remain in Manchester.
Savinho has struggled for regular minutes at Manchester City this season under Pep Guardiola, prompting speculation about a possible exit in the upcoming transfer window. This has alerted the Spurs, who, according to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, are planning to make a €25m offer for the talented Man City winger.
Savinho’s prospects of representing Brazil at this summer’s World Cup have taken a hit following his lack of game time for the Sky Blues this season. Due to intense competition within the attacking ranks, the 22-year-old has suffered. He has made only 20 Premier League appearances, registering two assists.
The South American trickster is seriously considering a change of scenery to reinvigorate his career. The report adds that Man City are aware of the player’s discontent and are subsequently not ruling out an exit. Savinho’s entourage believes the time is right for him to leave the Mancunian club and find a new place where he can fulfil his potential.
Savinho could be a solid signing for Tottenham
Tottenham need a direct and dynamic attacker like Savinho in their ranks next term. With his pace, unpredictability and dribbling, the Brazilian can bring freshness and flair to a Spurs attack that has lost its cutting edge. He can operate on the flanks as well as centrally, and that, coupled with his Premier League experience, could make him an excellent acquisition.
However, the Lilywhites are going to struggle to attract the profile of player they are usually targeting if they are plying their trade in the Championship next season. So, they must retain their top-flight status by hook or crook to genuinely stand a chance of signing Savinho.
