Dominic Solanke might have played the last game of the season for Tottenham.

Tottenham Hotspur face a very real danger of being relegated from the Premier League this season. Without top-flight safety, there is no guarantee that Roberto De Zerbi finishes his five-year contract in North London, even though he has vowed to stay at the club.

Spurs registered their first win of the De Zerbi era last weekend when they overcame relegated Wolves 1-0, courtesy of a second-half goal from substitute Joao Palhinha. While it kept their survival hopes alive heading into the final four games, the victory came at a premium for De Zerbi.

Xavi Simons and Dominic Solanke were forced off with injuries in either half against Wolves. Simons suffered a cruciate ligament injury and is expected to be ruled out until 2027 after undergoing surgery. That has come as a significant blow to Tottenham and their chances of staying in the Premier League.

Dominic Solanke, meanwhile, pulled his hamstring around the 40th minute and went down. Physios treated him on the pitch, and he limped while crossing the touchline. De Zerbi described it as a muscular injury, claiming it was “not a big problem,” though he wasn’t sure how many games the centre-forward would miss. Now, an update has emerged on Solanke’s injury.

Dominic Solanke could be out for the rest of the season

According to a report from The Telegraph, early scans have suggested that Solanke may have suffered a grade-two hamstring injury, which can take between three and eight weeks to fully recover from. This opens up the possibility of the 28-year-old joining the list of Spurs players who will not feature again this season.

Tottenham have already lost Cristian Romero, Mohammed Kudus and Simons to long-term injuries. The N17 chiefs think it could be difficult for Solanke to return before the end of the campaign, which is no surprise considering only four games are remaining. If the England international’s grade-two hamstring injury is confirmed, it would bring the curtain down on an injury-plagued second season for the striker.

Solanke, the club’s transfer-record signing, missed the first four months of the campaign following ankle surgery. This means he had a slow start to the 2025/26 season, and now, when Tottenham are fighting for their lives, the ex-Bournemouth marksman has sustained another injury.

While it is a major setback that Solanke could miss the remainder of the season, it allows Richarlison to shine and prove his worth to De Zerbi.
