Guglielmo Vicario is heading towards the Tottenham exit door.

Tottenham Hotspur are right in the midst of a relegation battle. Despite picking up their first win under new boss Roberto De Zerbi, they remained two points adrift of safety in the Premier League relegation zone after West Ham bagged a last-gasp victory over Everton.

But whether the club is relegated or stays in the Premier League, there are expected to be big changes in the playing squad during the summer window, leaving the futures of several players uncertain in the process. One player who appears to be heading towards the exit door is Guglielmo Vicario.

Inter Milan are eyeing a move for Guglielmo Vicario to replace Yann Sommer in goal next season. The Serie A side have been laying the groundwork for a possible deal for the last couple of months. The Tottenham goalkeeper’s age and Serie A experience make him an appealing option for Inter Milan.

Guglielmo Vicario reaches full agreement with Inter Milan

Recent reports suggested Inter Milan had reached an outline agreement on personal terms with Vicario. The Nerazzurri officials have been confident of signing the 29-year-old for as little as €18m this summer. Now, there has been a fresh update on Inter’s pursuit of the Tottenham No.1.

According to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Vicario has reached a full agreement to leave Spurs and join Inter Milan at the end of the season. He now looks set to return to his homeland as a result of the Lilywhites’ perilous position in the Premier League. Inter now must reach an agreement with Tottenham for the shot-stopper’s transfer.

Should Tottenham go down, Inter’s chances of landing Vicario at a cut-price deal will be severely boosted. Having been long-term admirers of the Italian international’s talent, the Nerazzurri will try to get him on a cheap. Due to their financial problems, Cristian Chivu’s club will not want to spend a fortune on Sommer’s replacement, as they have several other areas to reinforce.

Vicario arrived at White Hart Lane in the summer of 2023 and has since made 117 appearances so far, playing a pivotal role in the Lilywhites’ Europa League triumph last season, including a clean sheet in the final against Manchester United. However, the glovesman’s form has dipped this season, drawing criticism from the fans for his error-strewn displays.

Currently on the sidelines following a hernia surgery, it is safe to say that this is Vicario’s last season in a Tottenham shirt. Should he recover before the Aston Villa game, De Zerbi must still stick with Antonin Kinsky between the sticks. It will be a reward for Kinsky’s strong performances, whilst signalling to Vicario that his time in N17 is up.
